Injured Bitch

Recommended Posts

My bitch ...best guess 4 years old after having a low season...off her food etc...seems now to be getting injury after injury.

Im not running her just light walks and she seems a little lame at the front today.....and always stiff on the back legs getting up.

Anyone else have a prone dog....what do you do to keep them in good condition ?

Food has always been an issue with her.

would only eat raw tripe when i got her......she will take a little Burges super dog Lurcher mix in with it now....but thats all I give her.

What would you suggest re supplements ?

Get her to a good greyhound vet/bone man. She could have something out in her back which could affect the hind legs. She does look very down on her tendons in her front legs too, and is it just the photo, or does she seem to have a very rounded back for a dog of that type? Worth getting her checked over.

Best guess is Saluki x Whippet but ive only had her a year and her history is a bit sketchy....22" high.....as for curved back a assumed as non racing whippets have curved backs it came from that ?

What type of ground do you exercise her on? I ask as all the pics are in places where the ground would be quite soft. Free running her over mixed ground would get her tendons muscles etc used to being pulled in all different directions and some road work might help to tighten everything up.

Personally I think diet could be the major factor. Try and get some nice rib bones etc from your butcher and see if she will chew on them. Once she does you can tempt her with some raw meat and slowly move her onto a raw or part raw diet.

Looks a lovely dog though mate all the best with her!
