He was probably pissed up and phoning around gobbing off etc etc The police are never within miles of my house let alone coming in un-announced and finding me 'Asleep', so NO NOT BELIVING THIS SH*T at all. Anyone with Firearms needs to be 'squeeky clean' we have all seen what happens when it goes wrong, and WHO ENDS UP GETTING THE BAD STUFF that results? That's right me you and everyone else who is blameless. Quote Link to post
CharlieT 32
I have to go along with what some of the others have said, there is far more to this then has been reported. why did the police visit, why was he suspended from his job. Far to many why's. Quote Link to post
subwoofer 13
There must be more to the story, but if you were going to leave the guns out and maybe need to pop to the loo, why wouldn't you lock the front/back doors so no-one could just walk in. If it had required a knock on the door or ringing the doorbell, no-one would have known. I know several farmers who keep shotguns out so they can be grabbed at a moments notice to dispatch a crow or fox. Unless they do this, having the gun is almost pointless as they don't have time to spend just waiting. Is this acceptable, well officially I would say no. The other problem of course is that they get left out as this is normal and the farmhouse is never locked. It seem this goes on almost everywhere. Edited June 13, 2011 by subwoofer Quote Link to post
CharlieT 32
Subwoofer I agree with you. As an example I live on a very rural isolated farm. My job involves me using/having a gun with me a lot of the time. When I pop home for lunch I prop the rifle in the corner of the kitchen sit down and have my lunch and have even been known to nod off !!. Do I lock my rifle up whilst I'm eating lunch.....no. Am I breaking the law or being irresponsible ......no. Do I lock the door......no. The story as reported just does not add up. Quote Link to post
pestcontrol121 11
A bit more here http://raptorpersecutionscotland.wordpress.com/2011/06/05/sleeping-gamekeeper-fined-over-guns-on-table/ It says quote" Depute Fiscal Karen Smith said police had to attend the house at Mains of Aberarder unquote" so quite obvious they were called out but it doesn't say why, i bet he went into one with the police and they threw the book at him, suspended from his job a £160 fine also might have his certificate revoked. Well you are breaking the law if you leave the guns out while you fall asleep, thats just obvious. Quote Link to post
