As long as they are properly dried they will not rot however you keep them, but they dry out better after use from being hung up, rather than bundled (where the middle often stays wet). Having said that, in the winter my nets are often going out soaked through. In fact for a while i was having to thaw them out to use every day.

Same here hang them up everytime ive been out and give them a shake everytime i pass them to knock the mud etc off .and at the end of the season i hang them up in the loft and let them dry for four months and replace any pegs drawcords that needed doing

unless they get wet we leave our purse nets in the bags untill the end of the season then the whole lot 250 odd are hung up untill we start again we only use hand made spun poly nets also have about 30ish 10oz nylon nets which dont rot anyway but my 2 traditional 25yd hemp longnets we hang up every time we take them out

Lucky you don't live in wales, they seem to get wet everytime here  Your right on the spun poly / nylon etc, don't rot. Found one that had been out 18 months the other day

Serious question,Can you put hemp nets in the washer at the end of a season then let them air out side to get rid of detergent smell?

I wouldn't bother same with dipped them in a wood preserver there hemp just dry them slowly and they should be fine , Ive only heard of guys putting new nets in a washing machine to tighten the nets wallbash.gif Why ? just knit them right in the first place
