HUNTER91 1
I am a young lad of 19 and there are alot of open fields full with rabbit & other vermin. Alot of people around the area these days take it upon themselves to aquire a lamp and a set of dogs and take to the land regardless of permission. I myself however think that approach is wrong and it is rightly so. But how do youngsters gain permission to use their dogs or air rifles on land ? Most land owners these days would turn heads at youngster eager to hunt the vermin that is probably causing nothing but trouble. What kind of approach should be made ? I am still to overcome this dilema and untill I do will not be able to participate in the sport that fascinates me and i am eager to learn more about. Any help is greatly appreciated Quote Link to post
bob.243 8,908
You can get business cards printed from the address below at a good price, they make excellent cards, makes you look more professional like, hand it to the farmer when you meet him, saves him writing your Tel. No. down if he shows any interest, if he's out just pop it through his letter box. http://shootingcards.co.uk/index.html Best of luck. Quote Link to post
whippeter69 88
Nice to hear that you are not one of these that 'dont give a shit' and go on any land mate. You, with this attitude will in the end have a fair amount of permission under you're belt, dont you worry. Im 17 and have been going round asking for permission for 4-5 years and the only way you will do it is approaching the farmers. Just tell them who you are, and ask if they have any problems with pest on their land. Explain the methods you use and why you use them and what effect they have. All they can say is no, give it a try mate. Quote Link to post

shotgunny 39
i put on a pair of jeans and a shirt on and bring my shotgun license and rifle training license out with and door knock. I state clearly who i am and where im from and then fully explain what i do eg. shoot vermin Once most landowners see countryside alliance insurance they dont have a problem with permission so i would advise getting insurance. Im only 16 by the way so just being polite and having all the right licenses will get you permission. atb myles Quote Link to post
