Tyla 3,179
I re visited the new bit of ground where the rabbits were so green today. My wife was working on the yard there and i popped in for a shoot, had a walk round while she finished off the horses and managed five for 6 shots. Then we took the dogs for a nice walk which turned into a mammoth hike up the side of the downs. When we got back to the yard she went home and i had another walk round. I shot another four, one of which was a lasered 54 yards which i was pleased with. Ended up with nine which is the puppy fed for 4 1/2 days. The rabbits are not as daft as they were which somehow made it more enjoyable as some of them actually needed stalking this time! I spoke the the girl running the stables and she said her other half had been there the last two days and not managed to shoot any which might be why they've wised up a bit. I felt a bit smug as i was loading my nine rabbits into the van at the time! To be totally honest im amazed he couldnt shoot a rabbit there as they couldnt really be easier, dosent say much for his shooting! Yet again no pictures as forgot the camera. I will make sure i take some next time! Quote Link to post

Theres enough light in the evenings now for you to finish work and get the train and still get a decent time out there. Not sure i'd fancy bringing your rifle on the train though Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
Fair play Tyla. I could do with some of them bunnies in my life. Seen some videos on here where folk can walk up to them 30 yards away in an open field, no cover, take their time, lie down, get the bi-pod out, line up the shot, maybe miss, and then have another shot and kill it. Round here, you walk into the field and they are gone like rockets, unless really young, and i can't be doing with the lying in one place playing the waiting game, unless getting paid for it. Tyla 3,179
These are exactly that daft, their the only ones i've got though all the other places have been thinned right out and only the paranoid ones have survived. I quite enjoy the static hunting, get in the right place, nice and comfy, even a book or a snooze and shoot whatever appears. Its a good way to go once they are too twitchy to stalk. That must be nice mate I do get the odd one that obviously missed the memo, and kind of sits and stares for a couple of seconds too long. I've never been one for static hunting, other than shooting pigeons or waterfowl really, it's just not really for me, i usually just stalk about when shooting is needed and don't do too badly. Usually on the lamp though. Aye, this is the land of the paranoid bunny, i think round here there must be a story in the rabbit folk lore about the hairy one with the black dog and the warrior weasels. Quote Link to post
