what a stupid post!!!!!

....people seeing things a few years ago, seeing mates dogs, and generally seeing dogs doing things has a name....PAST EXPERIENCE! One of the reasons I come on here is because there are tons of people that are experienced hunters so reading what they've experienced (i.e. seen in the past) might help me learn a few things that I'm yet to experience myself.

Are people only allowed to post about what their current dogs do??? :wallbash:

Whys it a stupid post ye daft cuni read back and tell me once in this thread where a bloke or woman has said ive had 1 that did them

f****n hell this place is full of retards.

Hedz, nancyboy et al,

When did anyone say taking 5/6 foxes made a dog a fox dog? NO ONE DID.

When did someone suggest using a whippet as an all out fox dog? NO ONE DID.

When did someone say every whippet would take a fox? NO ONE DID.

When did someone say whippets were as good as big dogs for fox? NO ONE DID.

A simple question was asked, can a whippet kill a fox?

And the simple answer is yes it can.

The rest is just the usual THL bullshit.

can a whippet kill fox?the odd one will do,and tbh i think its just down to pure luck of the draw, stick to what there good at racing, showing and the odd bit of daytime ferreting......if ye contemplate showing a whippet a fox your a tit.dogs for jobs

Whatever mate, you do what you want with your mutts and let others do what they want with theirs.

The question was can a whippet kill a fox and plenty have, and plenty have killed a few, not loads, they are not an all out fox dog, but a dog that can handle the odd fox, and that was what was asked.

As to 'stick to what they are good at racing, showing and the odd bit of daytime ferreting', i take it you have owned a fair number, and tried them at various things and then reached that conclusion based upon your experiences with your own dogs failing to do anything more????? Is that right???

"If you contemplate showing a whippet a fox your a tit", right, and i suppose you have psychic powers that allow you to know what is in cover before it breaks out?

Some folk need to learn that their own personal opinion is not gods law.

hahah was that last bit aimed at yerself? i happen to have a lamping buddy that actually only ever ran whippets, and still runs whippets now when he aint out with me.....ive seen 1st season dogs embarrass 3rd and 4th season whippets on what there meant to be good at "rabbits" so thats my opinion on the matter, and as for failings i dont show my dogs...i dont race my dogs..and i dont ferret my dogs, but im sure they would turn there hand to it if given the oppurtunity

Now you see the difference between you and me here is that i'm offering my answer based on what i have seen and you on what you have not seen. The final comment was not aimed at you or me, but at those that insist on calling someone a fool, idiot, or whatever when they have a differing opinion on something.

My point was, that you are basing your opinion on the abilities of an entire breed, on ONE of your friends and his dogs. I've seen a fecking useless bull x owned by a chav, but does that make everyone merely a penis extension owned by an idiot?

Whippets are great little hunting dogs, with excellent noses, very high prey drive, great speed, good stamina and quick recovery time. They may not be all out lampers, or flat out fox or deer dogs, but they do excel daytime at finding and putting up quarry, and plenty of folk around and about have taken rabbit, hare, fox and certain deer at some point with a whippet. Not every day, not everytime, but it's possible, which was all that was asked  As i said, the rest is just bull shit

Whippets are not great little hunting dogs there shite and a good one is average at best show me a good whippet and ill bet theres 10 purpose bred lurchers out there that can do the job better and i mean any job, whippets are rabbiting and raceing dogs thats it,out of curiosity ideation how many running dogs have ye owned how long have ye been in the game and how old are ye and i had a feeling ye had a whippet

why do you u make it your personal prefrence 2 run down a breed of dog if u have no intrest in the breed.and yes i had a whippet who would take a fox single handed day r night not week in week out cause he used 2 get banged up alot but he still done it with not a backward step if i was hunting with the terriers and he came across a line of fox he would follow like beagle so yes he loved 2 catch fox r he wouldnt hunt them up on his own doing.his purpose with me was a ferreting dog not a fox killer but he done it and enjoyed it.sadly i gifted this dog 2 a very good friend as i wasnt ferreting as much as i should.but could get a lend of him no problem and show u him kill a fox.its obvious hes not going 2 kill 2 and 3 a night hes no big bull cross thats 3 times the size of and in weight of a fox.he took them every now and again for me and that kept me happy.

they can be that little bit quicker off the mark and they are pleasure to watch when working and they are great to live with and mine have done the odd fox but as i said before on this tread i would'nt take them out to hunt foxes.this dogs has a few under his belt a couple single handed but a good few along with my bushing terriers
