I had a lovely morning at the show, i saw some quality dogs and spoke to some really genuine people. It was my first Terrier and Lurcher show and im really glad i went. Just wished i could have stayed all day, Even the wife enjoyed it! Getting me closer and closer to me getting my own pup! Lol

Great weather, great location, pity there was such a poor turn out.

Terrier section was proper wank!

Dog shows have changed a helluva lot over the 30 or so years I 've been working dogs, not for the better IMHO.

Too many show type people and not enough working dogs there, hence dilution of the working breeds as people want a looker or a flying machine and aren't too bothered about working ability.

I did meet some good, genuine people there but not generally "my sort" of dog people. No offence to the people there but until the shows are run by genuine working dog people again, I'm afraid it's a downward spiral.

Cheers, D.

i was there mate and there was not one working terrier there!! The lurcher show was ok but imo there was only 4 dogs put in the ring that actually worked!!!!!! like you say, lovely day, lovely place but a show for yappy racers and pet lurchers! Nice day out tho.atb shushy

My two work mate. The old boy not so much nowadays (12 yo) but the bitch about 2 is coming on OK.

In the lurcher show, I bet my 10mth pup has had more rabs (about a dozen or so) than most of the rest put together.

BTW my white dog at nearly 4 is on about 400 rabs without mentioning other stuff. Not world beaters, just good honest dogs. :victory:

Give us a PM in the season mate if you want to see 'em graft

Cheers, D.

My dog works too mate, she won the smooth bitch under class, like i said bud, there were not many dogs there that did work. Did you win the terriers then?

No mate, best Russell dog (12yo :icon_redface: )

Patt/Cross bred bitch. IMO the best terrier there (but I'm bound to say that :whistling: , I only judged my first show in 1981 :icon_redface: )

Champion terrier was a tidy border owned by a nice old lady who called him Timmy Wimmy or something

If your local/handy we can have a run out sometime?

Cheers, D.
