The amount of dick heads that turn up to the shows are enough to put me off

i stepped under the ropes after showing in 1 class and 4 young lads took exception to me not saying excuse me even though they wher`nt in my way - they followed me to my land rover giving it large all the way then they saw my mates 2 18 stoners and the big fella 24 stone and backed off if only they`d had a couple more of thr stella carry outs could of been interesting .:whistling: some shows do attract thr fair share of dick heads thats the working dog game for you ...

yep the tracksuit warriors and the people with cars full of entries for every class which you see at every other show

Clashes with the Westmeath show ,which a lot of guys are showing an interest in going over to .

i held my first show in lambourn last year. what was thought to be the end of the once 'BEST' lurcher show nationwide and through alot of talking, begging, bum licking and promising, i managed to bring the show back although NOT an entirely lurher oriontated show as after all it is a FMWTC show and a "WORKING" dog one at that..

Last year, at a guess, i had around 500 people attend with some superb looking dogs, this year, i have had even more interest, only time will tell and being a charity event in aid of HELP FOR HEROES, i think does help with attendance..

when is it earth i`ll sort you a raffle prize or auction item ... you`ll have to give me a nudge i`m a fecker for forgetting ..

ahhh, thanks darling

24th july pal. its in the show section. :victory:

Hope ours is well attended this year..Guaranteed good prize money BUT most important the JUDGE will show NO FAVOURS AT ALL Thats a promise

do you think the judges play a part in numbers being down don ...

Yes to a degree..Like round here last couple of years ..Judge (1) puts so and so up the next week he or SHE returns the favour ..Tossers most of them..Then there are judges which in my opinion are so so biased towards a breed ..Gotta be a fell type nothing else is any good.Or gotta be black cos thats what I keep..Myself I couldnt be arsed what breed in my mind I judge each breed on what I think it should be..Caused quite a stink when I put a Border up a few years ago ..The dog went on to win a few more like LOL.Another thing, I dont do showing now to be honest ,but the few I do go to ,why is it that the lakie class has them all on one knee holding their terriers ALA Kc..LOL.. When I judge I like them standing free not half strangled on a tight lead let them stand on there own if its fit and right it doesnt need to be placed into a show stance ..oooops its right foot is an inch out FFS

a border ffs :tongue2: :tongue2: do you want trophys for yours this year don -- i`ll do the entered and the digging comp if you want ..

Yes Please mate more the better ..Oh and Ive added plummers to the schedule and a White lakie type class LOL

you like them white lakies .. have you got an in between class for them that dont know if they`ve got russells or white lakies or will they go in both ;)

yeah really love them LOL.dew claws halfway up their legs etc etc LOL

Guest THE BEATNICK

clachan it a bit of everything i think, cost of fuel, lots of cliques, and up here the weathers been real bad with more than twice the average rainfall.

i did over 50 shows one year and i know some still do -- i would`nt do it now due to fuel cost -- thr is a trend for some judges to play safe and put the same dogs up week in week out -- once a dog starts winning a few some judges wont differ and you do get a reguler little group winning shows it gets to the point where you can almost name the winners from show to show -- so people soon give up ... i won 3 shows 3 weeks on the trot one year under the same judge  i did one show total terriers in the whole show 14 ... people arnt gonna go if they dont get among the prizes- to many shows dates clash to many champion of champion of champion shows these days to many big championship shows that carry little meaning .. try this at your shows best entered dog best entered bitch best entered in show -- dog entered in the main show are excluded from these classes give em decent prizes and do a champion of champions end of season ... i dont know what the answer is to getting attendances up - shows just dont mean as much as they used to -- specialy to the working lads ..

CONWY VALLEY ALL READY DO IT STIG COME AND ENJOY

Little bit of everything that's already been said B only thing I disagree with is cash prizes etc this is what ruins shows and the working dog world MONEY so disagree way that ,the thing that effects the attendance of your show mate and always will is the fact it's only terriers if it was lurchers aswell I'd bet your numbers would have doubled I know this is out your hands but it will always effect your turnout,

P.S I didn't make it because a had too much on mate not because there wasn't lurchers lol.

we all call them working dog shows, but how many now have a working dog class? A lot of lads have great looking dogs but dont bother going or entering because so called "show stock"keeps winning. If you get a judge that is un biased then that will bring the numbers up. But a judge will always be swayed to the type of dog he/she keeps or has kept. atb shushy

The price of fuel is my limiting factor, however I have a good bunch of friends who are willing to share the cost which helps a little.

Clachan I'm sorry I missed your show & that your turn out was low.

We at the NWDA were the same this year, this was due to the weather & the football. I hope this answers some of your questions!

Working lurcher, not many shows do this class now,You used to qualify for EDRD if you won this class but now you have to win Champion lurcher at most shows to qualify.
