Parabuteos lad 878
i too fancied a change, but i knew a lot more regarding gosses than you, go out on a few days with the closest clubs to you, this will give you a sense of flying types etc. they dont follow on unless encouraged to do so. with imprints most people do not recall to the fist as this causes aggression and instead recall to the lure. buy a few books, and if imprinting, i suggest the imprint goshawk part 1&2 dvd by dave jones Quote Link to post
CrowHawker 227
Try and find someone with a goss to talk to and I would get a pr eyass if I were you,as by the sounds of it you don't have any imprint experience and their is nothing more worse than a badly imprinted goss. And books are a good idea as mentioned but if I were you find someone local to talk to. Best of luck Matt Quote Link to post
ozzieowl 53
your going to need plenty of time, talk to lads who fly gosses,as mistakes can be made,i will stick to the harris,im getting too old to be runnig miles.lol Quote Link to post
adeyhawk1970 0
If you fancy a change go for it and try to go out with a goshawer for the day.I did this a few seasons ago and i ended up sticking with the hh as the flight style didnt suit my way of hunting plus the fact that we spent more time looking for the gos with the telemetry than hunting(gamebirds)I have heard of goshawks following on and hunting from the soar like a hh but have never seen it yet, they may be just creatures of myth used to hunt unicorns.I dont think there flight style is as versatile as a hh,they are best flown from the fist Quote Link to post
j j m 6,566
have flown bothe over the years the hh is a more forgiving bird mate Quote Link to post
