ulverston moocher 60
well mostly one is wild (with the odd exception) polecat's are generaly darker even than a polecat coulered ferret, polecats are bigger, and polecats have webbed feet so I was told( I have a hybred polecat ferret first x and his feet are slightly webbed but so are my outhers so not sure on that one) polecats are a lot more muscular. (big shoulders and necks) Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
A lot of our 'wild polecats' have feral ferret blood in them. See a lot of supposed 'wild polecats' that people have for ferreting, but never trapped or seen one in the wild that was small ferret sized, they have always been big, muscly brutes. Apparrntly you can tell an 'e.u polecat' as it is very dark, muscly, fast and has a black nose, well so does my polecat hob, and his brother is sandy. Quote Link to post
romany52 313
I picked a dead wild polecat male up off the road a few weeks ago to compare with mine, same size as a hob ferret, it was no darker or bigger than mine. The differences where that, it was twice the weight, far more muscular, teeth and claws much thicker, and most noticeable, it's pads were as thick and leathery as a dogs. I think that the differences between captive bred polecats and wild polecats are down to diet and lifestyle rather than genetics. Edited June 10, 2011 by romany52 Quote Link to post
