As some of you know, ive recently had a litter of pups 3 bitches 2 dogs.....

there dogs a considerablly smaller than the bitches........is this likely to change, has anyone ever seen runty pups over take the stronger in the litter an become the bigger overall dog? does the development in the womb, affect the size of the overall dog in general, or does it all depend on the time the pup has on the bitch an the pup gettin what it needs to grow..

or does a pup become the size it was always going to be without all supplements expensive puppy foods ect.

size doesnt really matter to me as a whole, but wondering peoples views on this, an if they have experinced pups that look small to certain age over take the stronger pups in litter an become the stronger dogs..

all views expreinces welcome cheers.

I had the runt in the litter with the bitch I got here she's now the biggest by half an inch over the whole litter out of the dogs and bitches. I don't think there's any real science behind it mate I think it's just luck as you know dogs go through different growth spurts at different times so always hard to judge. I know this ain't much help in your choice

Alright I think it has nothing to do with food or feeding of the dam stage as a lad I know had a litter of two an got all the goodness of her an were the biggest two pups I'd ever seen at 8 weeks looked more like 4 months loads of good food an averaged out at 22 inch an sire was 28 an dam about 24 so just luck of the draw really

so you are both saying that regardless of a pups food it wont affect the end result of height an weight????????

No i think they are saying it isnt an exact science. You can pile the food in and some dogs are still going to be smaller than others in the litter.

I think what your saying IS obvious.

And hence no one mentioned it.

to me that says no matter what ye feed or do, the pup will reach its genetically predicted size, an that aint true...

Aye fecking obvious, poor feed = weak pups.

But at the same time, extra food doesnt mean extra big.
