fox head 0
what do you think is the best centerfire for foxes .222,223,2250,243 what do you lot think? Quote Link to post
danw 1,748
it makes no difference so long as it pokes a hole through old foxy but I find an 85gr nosler at 3600fps from a 25-06 makes most other foxing guns look tame Quote Link to post
fox head 0
i have only shot my .223 that does the job with 40gr hornady Quote Link to post
matt_hooks 188
100 grain from a .243 certainly does the job. Depends on numbers shot I guess, .223 and .222 will be considerably less expensive per round than .243. Quote Link to post
THE POACHER 13
deffinatly .223 mate ive shot a few guns and i found the .223 the best fox gun without a doubt Quote Link to post
markha 99
Ah c'mon lads, its not the specific calibre, its the skill of the person holding the gun. I know there are chaps on here who could probably kill a fox with a suitable catapult and the right sized steel ball. People are shooting fox with rimfire in some parts. Quote Link to post
welshhound2 20
if it were me it would have to be the 22.250 but must agree with marka Quote Link to post
stalkerboydy 4
it makes no difference so long as it pokes a hole through old foxy but I find an 85gr nosler at 3600fps from a 25-06 makes most other foxing guns look tame Must admit to using 75gr V-Max yep the .25-06 sure puts Mr Fox down Quote Link to post
bob.243 8,839
Agree with markha, but personally I use a .22-250. Quote Link to post
jamie g 17
had 222 good round. but also got 22/250 and its spot on. got a 17 fb also. keep the range to 200 yards with right bullet. low recoil and noise, low powder charge and very safe round as nine times out of ten it stays inside the body Quote Link to post
willum 89
55 grain vmax 22.250 homeload ni on 3600 fps does the job but as said before right placement n charley wont be going anywhere Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
The best foxing gun for any hunter is the one they CAN place the shot on the target, at the range in which the gun is capable of a clean kill, be it a .222, .223 22-250, 243 6.5 etc... And for me that calibre is a .243 win, for someone else it may be a .223 or 22-250. happy hunting. Quote Link to post
Bullcat 12
You`re all wrong... .204 Quote Link to post
