undisputed 1,664
Every so often a film and an actor comes along that is forever associated with a certain genre of movie. Like John Wayne is associated with westerns. The movie Enter theDragon was/is such a film. This movie set the bench mark for Martial Arts movies and in my opinion has never been surpassed. This movie influenced a generation of martial artists and sent thousands of kids to dojo's all over the world and was responsible for kick starting an industry that includes mixed martial arts and cage fighting. What film. Actor, sportsman inspired you or influenced you as a kid?
BULLDOUG 199
Bruce was a hero of mine as a youngster, in fact some of his quotes today i still take strenth from, his dedication was imence and as for his speed unbelievable.....But i did find my dads circular saw blades made better shurikans (flying stars) than any of them little Ninja ones. . Superman 1 was a favourite of mine, inspired many kids to jump out of bedroom windows (high on curly wurly and tooty fruity E numbers). .
Malt 379
The Dollars Trilogy & Blazing Saddles! My dad is a huge western fan and when I was a kid and there was a western film on, I was allowed to stay up way past my bedtime to watch it!

scothunter 12,609
cant say a film has really inspired me.i watched a lot of westerns as a kid and still enjoy the ones they occasionally bring out today.think its the fact that characters like wyatt earp, doc holiday actually were real people and died not that long ago.ok i know hollywood have dramatised them a lot.look at john wayne,he opitimised every thing that was America.big duke guess he would have been a good role model to follow. gnasher16 30,691
Sounds a bit dopey because they were really muggy films....but the first Rocky film came out at a time when a few of us had just started out in the boxing game and was inspirational in as much as showing that durability, dedication and a touch of luck could overcome a lack of natural talent....which has proved true in the lives of many people. mangy1983 51
The deer hunter is an iconic film for me because as far as l know it was the first film that didn't glorify war and showed and insight into how it can change and affect people. I found it sad when you see the difference between the friends before the Vietnam war working together and how it affected each of them in different ways afterwards. Many films have tried to copy this formula since but l don't think any of them come close to this film. cheers Callum
