Northern guns

Recommended Posts

Having read davyt's post and seen the pictures of the get together they had its got me wondering why us northern lads dont have a get together and have a bit of a H.f.t competition, It would be good to meet all the lads local to me and have a bit of competition and some banter, any of my fellow Smoggys, geordies, mackems, darlo, durham, yorkshire lads fancy trying to sort something out??

I'd be well up for that, Peter

I missed out on Davy's last do because I just couldn't afford the fuel at the time and Simon was in the same boat as me... It's great being your own boss

What have you got in mind? Do you have a potential venue?

Cheers.

I was thinking of using peoples permissions, mine included, if i get the right interest and its going to be worth it ill have a word with some of my farmers and "test the ground" with them, if everybody else interested does the same we could get a good few venues for this little get together

I missed out on the THL meet this year aswell, me and smoggyadam were asupposed to be going with darryl and gary, but darryl told me that gary got stiffed off some bloke at work that was supposed to swap shifts with him, and the prison officers were working to rule so that fecked me up, and adam was away.

Its a nightmare you being so far away ron mate  do you drive??

It'll be interesting to see what comes out of this, I hope something can be pulled together.

I've three premissions of my own but sadly I'm not allowed guests on two of them and the third one's tiny...

Finger's crossed!!

Cheers

Could do with finding out who lives in what areas I'd be up for a bit of hft meet up atb Kev

Most people have them under their pictures kev, me and adam are in stockton on tees and middlesborough, and we have permissions in thirsk, greatham, eaglescliffe, northallerton, shap, brough and yarm. That should give people an idea if its within travelling distance, mick01 who ive shot with, but he's dissapered off here a few moths ago is from redcar and has permission in durham. Ill have to give him a ring and see what the score is, wether he's still shooting or not

Yes pal, I do drive, but fuel costs make everything a bit prohibitive. That's the reason I missed out on Davy's meet.

None of my permissions are big enough to make it worth while at the moment, although I'm working on one or two that might be worth sending a couple of invites out for a weekend.

Mine has areas that would be perfect; were it not for the fact that, the fields here are all crop-growing and the forest runs dangerously steep, down to a nature trail along the river that the public have a right to walk. And that's not going to happen with a large group of shooters.

It would need Ian's say-so and then, only after the harvests are in and a bit of the forest where there's flatter ground, well away from ramblers. AND all the lanes and target course would have to completely disappear But I'll give it a good go, talking it over a few beers with him.

What do you think Andy?

Simon.

I don't know, Simon.

The land between Ian's house and the quarry wouldn't be any good IMO. Too close to a main road and as you've said, there's the footpath at the base of the valley and there's also the nature reserve to consider which has public access too.

What about the land on the other side of the road, over by the beat store? Or on the other side of the village towards the old railway? He's a few fields that have been left fallow over there.

I really don't know, mate. Have a word with Ian and see what the score is. He's got 1250 acres to choose from so maybe he could let us have a go at one or two??

Cheers.

I was talking to Davy about thus at the meet mate.

Davy & Chaz have all the HFT stuff and suggested it would be like a THL on tour whereas meets could be held at different parts of the country.

Deffo sounds like a good idea mate and if you need any help I'm sure me n wor kid will be happy to help

Haha, shall we get tshirts made up that say "THL LADS ON TOUR?"

Think this has potential for development, but I also think that it would rely on members being willing to travel too, not just attend their local ones. As I already mentioned, the cost of fuel seems likely to be the most prohibitive thing, but if a few guys could get together and share the cost it shouldn't be too bad.

This is really bringing back a sense of camaraderie (and I don't care what members of the forum from other sections say about us being boy scouts or holding each other's cocks - which, by the way, I'm not into). Even if there's no competition, I think just having an opportunity to semi-regularly meet up and talk airguns and have a few beers would be great.
