scalesntails 118
Vegwise they get whatever I have that's going off or I have in the fridge. Its usually things like peas, spring greens, curly kale, carrots, swede etc. I just chop it all up put it in the steamer for 30 mins then throw it in the blender with the water from the steamer as I assume the steamer water has got some of the nutrients in it. When it cools I just mix it in the meat. I am sure you are aware already but when you change to raw their meals will look smaller as meat is far heavier than dry. I generally feed roughly 2kg of meat with leftovers etc split between 3 dogs. If they start to look fat I cut it back and give them more if they look like they need it. Before I started getting cheap meat from the butcher I was buying whole chickens then taking off the breasts and legs and letting the dogs have the rest. It's actually cheaper than buying the meat separately. I am sure you could get 15kg of raw in tesco for less than the £50 you spend on 15kg of dry. Quote Link to post
Cold Ethyl 63
Will give that a go never really looked at like that before Storm will eat anything Flints not too bad and the terriers got me wrapped round her finger shes supposed to be on special vetinary food. She wont touch it though no matter what i add in to it she really genuinely hates it.So i fired her back on to arden grange senior cos she likes it and seems to work well for her. Then shes old and not working anymore so its no odds really.Where as this pair are never sat still for long just now so want to make sure they have the best i can provide for them even on a boring day we go out for miles and miles with Andy we walk them for about 5 hours we do stop though for rest a few times.Or we fire them in the car and go somewhere Storm can have a run and not get himself into trouble.Through the week we walk them about 3 miles there and back to my mates place to give her a hand and get a cuppa so theyre always on the go seems to work for them though they look brill just now and will look fantastic come winter hopefully Quote Link to post
scalesntails 118
You might find the terrier does better on raw just keep and eye on her when you change. Just checked on tescos website. If you bought 15kg in whole chickens it works out just under £35 and you could get 26kg of chicken wings for your £50 as they are only £1.89 per kilo. Quote Link to post

fieldsman 51
Just keep an eye on his poop if it changes then look at your diet. The issue with mixing dry and raw is they have different digestion rates but I have no idea if this is true. I just feed raw myself as if dry was so good then they would have a human formula for athletes or to ship to countries suffering from famine. They do its called wheat Quote Link to post
