B.P.R 2,798
You got a kit from a dog show? Dry catfiod and wet catfiod. Chicken wings or any game like kemp said Quote Link to post

joe14 98
Kits need raw meat, rabbit, chicken wings, cheap frozen mince. Puppy food = puppys ,Cat food = cats. Get dry ferret food such as alpha, vitalin or james wellbeloved. Leave that down all the time, moistened with warm water for kits. Of course water 24/7. If you have a pets at home near you they will sell their own ferret food & frozen blocks of pet mince etc for now. Edited June 5, 2011 by joe14 Quote Link to post
Jingo 6
I wouldn't worry about the biscuit rubbish too much ferrets have been around a lot longer than dried food, it is handy when warm days are here as it doesn't go off but ive known people who have kept ferrets on cat food for years and had no problems but ideally fresh meat is best and the bones help keep their teeth clean and avoid abscesses in later life. Just common sense though ferrets are meat eaters so feed them meat, fresher the better. Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
Do more research!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Before trying to look after a creature that totally dependent on you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A useful post if the man happens to own a time machine! How old is the kit mate? If you don't have any game in the freezer, i'd get yourself a bag of decent dried ferret food to tide you over. Its handy in the summer as it does not attract flies or go bad as quick. Suppliment this with some chicken wings, lambs heart or whatever cheap meat you can get. If you can get hold of whole carcasses, i.e rabbits, birds etc, chop them into pieces and freeze them, and give the kit a piece as regular as you can. Over summer put meat in at night and take out the remains in the morn to minimize flies etc. One last thing is i'd advise getting another kit as they are very sociable and tend to get a bit mopey on their own. And make sure there is plenty of clean water and handle her lots. 1 Quote Link to post
max abell 196
As already said fur and feather is best but dry is ok as well also if you are about early mornings before the sun has come up properly you quite often come across the odd bit of fresh road kill ie a young rabbit or a woodie etc but make sure the flies aint got to it and thats its very fresh road kill Quote Link to post
