Good night foxing With 17HMR

to be fare to wheal as i understand it allthough i am sure it often does the job well the 17 grain bullet that you were using is not rated for fox controll.this is becouse it is ballistic tipped to cause massive trauma to small easy to penatrate animals.they brought out the 20 grain (wich you will note is not ballistic tipped)to allow people to dispatch foxes with.it is desighned to penatrate through bone and hit vital organs.i love to shoot but when someone pulls you up on something perhaps listen rather than calling them an anti  hopefully when you read this you will have the attitude of cheers mate i did not realise that rather than having a go back.its a forum that people can learn alot from god knows i have picked peoples brains enough.

enjoy your shooting lads but remember that there are people who are very wise and experienced on this site ( not me)who will pick you up on things and its not a bad thing.:victory:

Ur dead right mucker, i have shot fox with hmr but only at around 50yrds and dont think i would risk it any further and as i see quite a few when out shooting i have applied for a variation for .223, as this is the true fox gun and would have no bother dispatching a fox at a good distence, and i do understand that they do need controlling but using the right tool for the job is always the best way, best keeping the hmr for bunnies and variating for .223, good hunting guys

Bought 2 boxes of Hornadys recently from Litts in newport, in both boxes after I shot about 5 rounds had misfires where the powder was damp. Head of rounds were jammed in the barrel which peed me off more tha anything as it meant nights shooting was over!! Replaced with Federal Premium V Shox, lovely rounds had 15 rabbits in about 16 shots :boogie:

So like i said wright tools for wright job, thanks to more educated shooting lads my point as been made clear!

As far as blasting the country side to peaces!

Not all foxes make a newsense of themselves,so why shoot everyone in your sight?

some lads are out 24 7 with the rifle,

I have a few litters near me which have been left only for that reason ie not talking lambs etc etc.

cheers lads

happy shooting

well only had 17hmr on my ticket at the time and was having big probs on my estate with the foxes taking loads of my pheasants so that was all i could use.

not all foxes make a nuisance of themselves. well when they come on my land they always do as i have 15000 pheasent.

so why shoot everyone in your sight.because everyone i see in my sight is a pest.

some lads are out 24 7 good on them there welcome to come on my land and fill there boots with foxes

you have had a few litters near you which you have left. anyone ever come on my land and told me they seen a fox on my ground but would not shoot it because it wasnt taking pheasant would not be welcome back again.

and good spelling by the way good job im educated

newesense/wright?

Happy shooting lads.
