sHE GOT KILLED ON A MAIN ROAD AFTER COURSING A HARE.WE GOT SEPERATED SO SHE WENT BACK TO THE CAR WHICH WAS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF A VERY BUSY ROAD.

I GOT THIS LITTLE FIRST CROSS A FEW MONTHS LATER.HE TURNED OUT A PROPPER DEER AND FOX DOG.(HARD AS NAILS)

Im so, so sorry mate. Ive had one knocked down, its a most horrible thing to happen, I cried like a baby, nearly threw the towel in altogether. She was only 8 months, deerhound cross, just killed her first hare 2 days before, such excitement, then that. Its like loosing one of the family.

I did this poem when I lost another bitch, old age this time, 13 when she died. Its already been posted on another site, but you might not have seen it..

A BLACK SLEEK SHEENE

WITH EARS PRICKED AND EYES BIG AND WIDE

THE FIRST OF MANY, SHE WAS MY PRIDE

A HEART WAS BROKEN AND TEARS WERE SHED

THE DAY SHE DIED, A GARDEN HER BED

CONVERSATIONS WE HAD WHEN WE WERE ALONE

IN THE DEAD OF THE NIGHT

BEHIND A WALL OF DRY STONE

HER BEGGING FACE STARES AT ME WITH A SMILE

FOR A PAT ON HER HEAD, A RUB OF HER EAR

THIS WAS ALL SHE WANTED, SHE KNEW SHE WAS MINE

I KEPT HER, I FED HER, I PROTECTED HER

ONLY ONE THING WAS IMPOSSIBLE AT THE END

BUT YOU WILL UNDERSTAND, WON’T YOU BES

I wrote one years ago that I have saved and never shown anyone, I always thought it would be the kind of poem I would want read at my funeral, but maybe I should share it instead, poems are better shared arent they?
