Best used air-rifles?

I sold my last air rifle over a year ago and can finally afford another. I don't really know where to get the best deal though, I haven't seen anything that has taken my eye within budget. My first rifle was a rapid 7 mk1 which i loved and had for years and years. I also have had a logun mkII and a falcon lighthunter. I did NOT like the logun as it was too big, heavy and I was contantly banging the silencer, but the lighthunter opened my eyes to small rifles you can shoot from a car with no bother.

I am leaning towards getting a Daystate hunter classic (i think that's what they are called anyway). But really i just want a well-built and reliable/consitent PCP that is quite small/light I can use for hunting. Mulit-shot would be good but not 100% neccessary.

Where can I get a set up for less than £500 (inc buddy bottle). Or should I just go to a shop and get a decent rifle and try and get the rest cheap?

Try looking at the AA S200, S410, S410 TDR, BSA Ultra etc. a lot of the guys on here swear by one or all of them! They should hit the mark as starters, but do bare in mind that by reducing weight, in a lot of cases you also sacrifice shot count, especially in comparison to a Rapid.

 

If you want carbine size with large shot count then you can't go far wrong with a decent example of an BSA S10 Carbine. 150 shots in .22 and regulated.

im obviously biased, but if your after lightweight carbines, the falcon range is perfect and they offer skeleton stocked versions of all their rifles. i've got what folk on here refer to as noodle arms and trekking around with my rifle is no strain at all (im now considering piling lamping gear on it!), and its very short and pointable. It was only an inch longer than my friends BSA ultra (including silencers) and i think the shot count may be more than the ultra too. As said before, other solutions would be the air arms S200 and S410 TDR or the BSA ultra.

I would consider getting another lighthunter fn12, I couldn't really fault it apart from being single shot. I used to prefer heavier rifles when I was in a club and did a lot of target/HFT stuff but for purely hunting I prefer a light rifle you can just sling on your shoulder and forget about.

The BSA Ultra seems alright, I had a look at one before getting the falcon but it just had the feel of something cheaply made. Which is fine, I don't want to worry about it getting knocked about a bit but can you rely on them? But for the price, it does make the huntsman look a bit expensive

 

I don't mind sacrificing shot count, I will keep my filler bottle in the car and I am not lucky enough to need hundreds of shots for a days hunting! I will have a look at the bsa 10 again, but it does look very similar to a rapid...how consistent is it? I think someone is selling one on here I will check.

I didn't particularly like the cocking method of the ultra, and it was heavier than the falcon. I've noticed there's a lot of super 10's and old rapids coming up for sale at decent prices recently, if i had to buy another pre-charge, i'd definitely consider having one. for about 300 quid you cant really go wrong. good luck with the search anyway mate.

Go for a Rapid MFR, light weight and carbine size, Quality and Light weight " For you Noodle Arms Owners", Plus decent shot count, All 3 Calibres .177,.20,.22, Also smaller buddy bottle.

And it will last for years, Result.

there's an Ultra full kit for sale on here at £400 inc filler bottle, new. Very tempted but I still have my reservations on the quality/consitency I really can't be doing with a rifle I don't have trust in. I would prefer a nicer rifle secondhand. But this might be a good deal, I would appreciate advice because I think I am being a bit prejudice.
