Guest J-Jones
i am not trying to wind anyone up,once you buy your pup its your problem, how long would you care for the welfare of pups if you had bred them, This clown is either an anti or a wind up Quote Link to post
IanB 0
We could do with less of these clowns on here really, joking or not...theres too many braindead morons amongst the lurcher and terrer scene as it is Quote Link to post
cotn 0
i think the dog is doing ok for 2 year old seen some dogs no start till 3 keep at it i think he will cum good after a few sore ones he will just lose it good luck sounds like there are a good few dog men on this site well thats twenty foxes already ?how many more bites before the dog will lose it mate and say come on then lets have it hear and now and you think the dog is doing ok for 2 year old fk me ,were do [bANNED TEXT] come from its giveing the bloke false hope?and good dog men mate dont keep dogs that does that even at 2 year old in there kennels?my point his we would rather be honest and tell him ,from what we no about dogs, that do this thing, after twenty broken noses would you go back for more this breed of dog will take a lot longer to mature than say your bullx its just cuming on 2 years old give the dog a chance but you will no better than me as i have never had a dog that takes fox single handed and never had a good dog in my wee snoopy hut Quote Link to post
skycat 6,173
Just to add my ten penny'worth: I've never had a dog do what your's does and go on to become a totally dedicated fox killer: yes, some of them have held the fox until I got there and finished things, but more often than not they lacked the confidence/bottle to get a grip and hold on hard. But I have had dogs not tackle fox until they were 3-4 years old then switch on and do the business properly. IMO they either have it in them or they don't. Not saying that yours is like either of the types I have dexcribed here, I've just not seen it happen otherwise. Quote Link to post
J Darcy 5,871
IMHO you are asking too much from an 18 month old pup. personally i would not show him another until next cubbing time or else he will probably spew it all together. Quote Link to post

dickyboy 1
J darcy are you meaning wait till this time next year or this coming cubbing season september time?? There are several tips that i will try from this discussion!! but waiting will be number 1 i believe doing some rats on saturday so going back to basics!! Reckon this will help?? Thank you everyone who has contributed.....And although he ain't doing it yet it ain't over till he won't go near them!! Thinking back to when i first got him at 8 months old he was a struggle to get him to bite a dead fox or hold anything!! So he has come along way, never expecting an out and out fox dog but with a bit of training he should come right and help bring on my next pup, when i can keep more than one!! Thanks again people Quote Link to post
dickyboy 1
my mate dragged one around and he wouldn't even nip it at first slowly got him to bite stuff....he didn't seem to like the taste or something!! never left him with one, but he has retrieved a few dead ones Why do you ask?? Infact tonight i just realised something....he has only started a guarding sort of bark in the last few days!! not even consistent yet....maturity???? cotn 0
this dog is only 18 month old what age do you start urs at then no all Quote Link to post
cotn 0
wel if that was the case ,then everyone would just stick to try and train one dog,we all cant waste time training dogs years down the line if pest control is in order, what would be the point in doing this to miss every fox you need to kill? and just to had to you saying any idiot can train a bullx ?are you suggesting every bullx takes foxes just wondering ? No, I'd never make a sweeping statement involving the words "every" and "dog" because they are individuals. Don't get me wrong I wasn't knocking Bull X's or any other dog, or people that work them. I was saying that they are ideally suited to the job and so it's a bit like training ducks to swim. Entering one is not rocket science. well belive me it can feel like rocket science sometimes see that dog in my picture now ,ive trained him and trained him hard some people say i wouldnt ,hes has game has anything on foxes from a pup, buti f it wasnt his turn he would go belistic in the back of the car, even bite other dogs tails of ,if it wasnt that he would be out of the car on a slip and he would just go to the back of the car and bite fk out of the exhaust ,belive me mate it took some doing to bring him on ,and hes a 3 qarter bull, qarter greyhound ,only slight problem now his to stop him screaming when hes chained up in the car,and hes 3 year old ,my point his just cos its a bull x dont mean there any easier to train ,may it be fox ,sighting up ,and actually showing them what lamping his all about this dog is only 18 month old what age do you start urs at then no all keep that to myself thankyou?bare in mind this dogs had over 20 foxes ,would like to hear your advice to him ,it should be intresting my advice is two give the dog a shot of this years cubs and try an get another dog to lead the way and give the dog an another year to fully mature there is some other ways but they might offend some people Quote Link to post
Guest oldskool
havent been on properly for a week or so... then i came on and read this crackin thread... Brilliant!!! some useful advice there and i would guess with a cross like that it would take time to find his feet! i had a whippet collie greyhound that never took fox well but she accounted for over 30 or so... she would hold them at bay till i got there and done it for her... never bred from her but she was alot better than a whole lot of other fox dogs!! hit with a car Quote Link to post
dickyboy 1
thats exactly it oldskool ...if thats all he does i'll still keep him but he's so close i think he could be better if he can just learn to use his power!! I think she was a chocolate spotty one nijinski...the man to ask is marco i got him off him but he got him off someone close to him, i never saw the mother or father....took a hell of a gamble but i couldn't have a lurcher looking lurcher if you get me!!!
