J.DOG 1,355
Well, my mate wants a lurcher it will be his first dog he don't know what to get he was gonna get a bull grey but I laughed at him told him it was too much for a first dog he wants some advice. I suggested that he get a whippet X but he still wants some owners advice. He wants it for rabbiting he has been out with me and a few other mates and he really is hooked on it now. Any advice for him Quote Link to post
Shazza 52
At least he has some mates to show him the ropes This will be my first season and i'm teaching myself and my first dog so i have no experience what so ever but my pup is now 7 months, 5/8 Grey X 3/8 Whip and she's doing me proud, very easy to live with, eager to please and is coming along a treat with her training & prey drive. I'm very pleased with her so far Quote Link to post

Any advice for him Don't rush into something that in a year or so might not be for him. You're only kids and fads come and go.......tell him to wait until the season starts and he goes a bit more with you. Its not always for everybody when the weathers shit and you're not catching stuff. 1 Quote Link to post

Guest dances
Aint that the truth, when the weathers bad and a few spots have been played out giving a few blanks it causes a few lads to pack it in Quote Link to post
NEWKID 27,687
Thats good advice Johnny boy68, unless you've truly got the time to give to your dogs it's not fair getting them. I came away from running dogs for quite a while cause I knew i couldn't offer them the time they need, maybe your mate should walk with you for another season every weather good and bad nights/ days if he then feels he can offer a dog the time they need he should get himself one. Hopefully he does stick at it mate I guess your quite young lads and it's good that younger lads are still coming into it Quote Link to post
