Sleeping material for ferrets?

Recommended Posts

I use straw my the sleeping area with some of the

Babies old blankets. They roll about and snuggle in and just lie on top if they're warm. I've gt 2 pieces of newspaper with shavings in the half where they shit. Going to try and get hold of a couple of 15inch wide strips of Lino to put there instead of newspaper to stop the piss etc soaking in. Anybody know where I can get some Lino? Atb

go to local carpet shops and ask if theyve got old sample books of lino. you got more chance of getting it from small shops on the high street etc rather than the big commercial shops :) i got 4 books from mine so took the spare to the local ferret rescue

i use either hay bought from the pet store because that has alot of the dust and seed extracted from it apparantly.. shredded paper because its free and we go through loads due to owning our own business and in the winter i throw an old top or socks in.. when its freezing ive seen my GF put in a fluffy blanket and they love that!.. but mainly hay or paper until its cold... for the flaw i use wood chips from pet shops again to minimize the dust.

good idea about the lino i might get some this weekend!

single duvet from tesco is about £6, rip all the dachron stuff out and use that :) light fluffy warm and cheap and one will probably last most of a year

ive tried this in the past but found that they sweat in it. and come winter due to it being warm it gets damp and holds the wet. but each to there own

mine have learnt already to slowly extract themselves from the bedbox while sleeping if theyre too hot, theyve had it for three weeks now and it only vaguely smells of ferret so should be alright but ill keep an eye out for damp :)

Layer of shredded paper, then on top, a few old pillow cases and a cheap fleece blanket for summer. Mine have a nest box attached to the coop so nice and dark in there for them. In winter, layer of shavings, then shredded paper, then pillow cases, few fleecy blankets and shredded paper again on top. A top layer of hay added as well for the snow weather. The more layers, the more heat kept in.
