mikeyblue 28
Hi Lads, Decided to take another mooch out on my permission last night. It was overcast and breezy but after a long week at work I needed to get out!. I arrived at 1830hrs to meet the farmer, and be told that the bunnies are running amock on his big padock he intends to mow. 'I'll try and do summat about that', I told him. I prepped my kit, checked zero and headed off in the direction of the padock. It was about 200m away and I opted on following a fenceline that would offer me a little cover. The wind would also be in my face, blowing my scent away from the bunnies and allowing me not to have to allow for a cross wind should a shot arrise. On approach I could see one or two grazing. So the stalk was on. Creeping along the fence, I got within 30yds. They were infact grazing outside of a decent warren that I hadn't noticed before. I had the choice of four rabbits. I opted for a nice 3/4 grown. Bipod down, lie prone, center the crosshairs on the sweetspot and squeeze through the second stage. Bugs jumped, flipped and gave a stretch of the back legs. As I recocked the R10 I noticed another rabbit slightly furter past the warren just in range. I gave it about 40yds, again squeezed through the trigger and watched the pellet on its arc to the killzone. Two in quick succesion. I retrieved my kills, and hocked them on the fence to collect them on the way back to the van. As I bent down I noticed yet more about yds on. Again stalked into range. On this next warren I managed to bag bunnies three, four and five. With this I collected my kills and returned to the van as there was another part of my permission I wanted to have a look at. I headed around to a disused empty reservoir. Having seen a lot of corvid activity here in the past I wanted to have a recce on where to build a hide. On doing this another two bunnies found there way into my gamebag!! A 20yard half grown, and a 40yard doe. I found the ideal place to build a hide to have a pop at the crows. I think a bird of pray decoy, over a slit open rabbit will bring them in. Looking forward to doing a bit of crow bashing!! End Of Day Pic. Keep at em lads. Kind Regards, Mikey. P.s A quick pic of my new adjustable cheek piece on the R10. Ive found it allows perfect scope-eye alignment, all but eliminating any parralax error. Plus it looks great!!! mikeyblue 28
Hi Lads, Cheers for the kind comments. Shay, I did consider XTX as his work is excellent, but due to postage cost both ways, I opted for a bloke near me who I could drive to. Dropped it off last Wednesday picked it up Friday His name is UK Neil on other forums. He does some other excellent products including a 'Moderipper'!! Its an Air Stripper combined with a Silencer. It basically strips thr turbulent air from around the pellet when it exits the barrel and diverts it into expansion chambers and baffels of the silencer. Cant wait to strap one on the R10!! Kind Regards, Mikey. Quote Link to post
