pianoman 3,587
you need more than your back garden mate. Get to your permission and mark out a target at 25 metres and see what your scopes doing. God knows what sort of condition you Weihrauch rifle is in for thirty quid. What's the type/model of HW rifle and make of scope you have? To be honest, you don't sound like you know a lot and you've just blown thirty quid on a fcuked-up dog Pianoman Edited May 29, 2011 by pianoman Quote Link to post
chilly 59
To be honest I thought that weather the scopes worked or not the gun it's self should be ok and werth the 30 No don't now much really guns not something I've done much of before , but we all got to start some where Not sure of the model of the rifle will have a look now , there a few marks on the stock but the gun Its self seems in good order Quote Link to post

pianoman 3,587
I was refering to your scope Chilli. The rifles are great but, a duff scope renders them blind, unless they have open sights You will see the HW model type on the breech block and the calibre beneath. Weihrauch make a very tough rifle that can take a lot of external abuse. But there is a limit. By the time they are exchanging for thirty quid they are usually damaged, abused and pretty knackered. But, if you say the rifle you've got is in good order, then you may have a real bargain on your hands. You need to use a great pellet like RWS superdomes or H&N Field Target Trophy to get the best accuracy from a Weihrauch barrel. They can be very pellet fussy, but these seem to universally the best pellets for these rifles. All scopes zero in common sense fashion. If your shot hits low and left of centre. you need to raise the elevation turret till the shot is level to left of centre. Then you simply click the windage turret to right to bring your shot exactly onto the target centre. If the scope's elevation turret is up to the top of its travel but the shot is going very low at reasonable range, it's a fair bet that either the scope is duff, or unusually but possibly, the barrel is drooping when it's locked up in place. Just tilt the rifle on its side and look down along its length. Is the barrel perfectly straight in line with the cylinder and stock? Or is it looking slightly bent? I would need to shoot with your rifle and scope to know exactly what it is mate. But try testing it by getting a centre-to-centre zero at 25 metres range. If your shots are tightly grouping here, click the windage turret to left, counting the clicks till you cannot move it any further. Fire a shot and note how far left the shot hits. Count the clicks all the way back to the same figure out and you should be back at your original zero. Do the same to right. Then the same up the elevation turret. Then the same back, and the same low, and the same back. If you find you have returned to your original zero, out and back, on all four points, the scope's fine and working well. If not, well, you have a defective scope. Hope this helps you for now. Simon Edited May 29, 2011 by pianoman Quote Link to post

chilly 59
This is it , I now you can't really see the condition but that's it any way, the barrel looks straight and the inside of the barrel looks good to , no rust nice and shiny and can see the rifle in it clearly , may need to get some new scopes tho Quote Link to post
darren watson 14
if you want cheap scopes, try the J.S Ramsbottom website, i remember they used to sell 3-9x40 bushnell sportsmans for 40 quid! so you might find yourself another absolute bargain on there. Quote Link to post
