Waz 4,274
After reading another thread here, got me thinking about the language you fellas use, and whether the normal (cant think of a better description - no offence meant) folks language have borrowed bits or vice versa. Cushty for example. Another that I only ever hear from Londoners or travelleling folk is Mush or mushie. A few of my old hunting mates and me myself would use gavvers, which I imagine is a pure travellers word knowing theyre own background and breeding, maybe I picked the word 'dinlo' up from these boys too? Ideation 8,216
Aye the Roma have their own language, but that usually has nowt to do with a lot of the traveller dialect, which is as influenced by scots dialect and other stuff. Many of our travellers here came after the clearances rather than from the wagon peoples.

greatwhitehunter 47
there are lots of gypsy words used in today society, the most common one is chav, the word chav comes from the romany word chavy which means boy. youd be suprised od the amount of words you use are derived from the romany language. a few are parnie which mean rain, juck which means dog, gavvers means police i think? not too sure if im wrong correct me because i want to learn.
