As anyone knows from this forum I have taken a personal interest in the Terrier & Lurchers at our shows and that includes an involvement in getting good prizes and trophies and in helping select good fair judges. Ballywalter was the first of the shows run under a new regime and I selected and purchased the trophies myself and I was more than happy with Matt's selection of judges. I have heard no complaints about either trophies or judges at Ballywalter. I had no involvement with Florencecourt other than letting it run qualifiers for the Master Mc Grath and the Five Nations. We are currently finalising judges for Shanes Castle and Birr and again they will be people who I personally will be happy with. At the end of the day judges can only give their opinion on the day and judging is a matter of opinion - you , I and other people's opinions will differ. milliken 793
the summer is the time to reflected on our dogs progress from over the winter attened a few show and gamefairs no matter who runs them catch up with a few old friends hear of the many great dig long courses or that great nights lamp it should all be taken in good spirit some you win most you lose thats the way i see it in my eyes there seem to be a bit of bad blood for shamus and matt at the minute the reasons i do not no apart from some dogs being placed before another is showing that inportanted that everyone is falling out over a trohy let yourself be the judge of your own dog over the winter and have a bit of fun over the summer shamus and matt have done alot for the lurcher and terrier lads in ireland and both have my full respecter and support and i wish them all the best robert

fairplay 0
Well Albert it was mat that said you picked the terrier judge for last years terrier show he was like co co the clown prancing about in a kilt judging the dogs on a table then when they walked for him he was not even looking at them and look what he put up for champion a black thing with a White blaze on the front of it and it's tail up its ass any show or gaim fair needs a judge that's knows what he is looking at and that is also the case for lurchers and whippets any show is only as good as the judges that judge it let's see what this year brings ? Fairplay, I did not pick the judge last year I suggested we get a judge who did not know anyone here to judge and Joe was suggested. After discussion with the club we was appointed. I had first met him many years ago when I took a dog over to Brian Plummer in Scotland. He was a friend of Brian Plummer's for many years and I am sure picked up a little first hand and second hand knowledge along the way! I know he does keep and work terriers. I was satisfied that he judged fairly - he certainly did not know the owner so he could not be accused of bias. Many people were pleased that he put the winner of the working class forward as champion. Would I have done the same as him? Probably not but 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder' and as the appointed judge he was entitled to give his opinion. Alberj
