Very surprised that no one has said that all this trapping and netting is illegal.

Get caught with this equipment in your shed and you could be in serious bother.

Yep those where the days alright.P1

My grandad originally came from carlow in kilkenny an he was mad for bird liming and catching linnets, goldfinches,he would also have the knack of getting sky larks he,d spend hours in the fields watching them when the parents would land from flying they would never land on the nest they drop so many yards away and walk the rest to trick predators as alot of ground nesting birds do. Then he would spring out the grass and the cock or hen lark would strike from the nest revealing where it was if there were chicks in the nest he would put a purse net over the young so the parents could feed them but they couldnt leave the nest then he keep checking now and again until the bird was big enough to be taken away, never met my grandad but i really wish i did he was a proper country man, poacher, dog, birdman etc book of knowledge he did pass alot on to my dad but it would of been great to see him and learn my self from him.

It's sad to say but all that knowledge and culture that has developed over god knows how many years is going to be lost soon enough. It seems that the government are happy for the kids to swap all this for Drinking on street corners, indulging in under age sex and becoming parents before they even become adults themselves.

Pretty sad really.
