gnasher16 30,121
Just rang my ol fella to ask him a bit about Turpin...apparently all the Turpin brothers Randy,Jackie and Dick all fought in the booths, often on the same night !...reckons they were real nice fellas ( not a bad bone in their body were the exact words )...they had a terrible upbringing being some of the first blacks in the area they lived in piss poor housing all the boys suffered badly with pneumonia and bronchitis due to damp living conditions....he reckons Randys old promoter Jack Solomons had something to do with his death and had done Randy out of near every penny he had ...( but then my ol man hated Solomons so who knows ).He said Turpins second fight with Sugar Ray Robinson should have been stopped due to Robinson having a bad cut eye but the ref wouldnt stop it as the yanks were desperate for Robinson to get the title back. Apparently Randys wife was the daughter of a farmer in North Wales somewhere which is how he ended up buying a place there later on he loved the peacefulness of the place and would often go there to get away from it all. The ol fella started going on about some piece of music that was written for Randy by his pal Mosh something or other called " the sea of tranquility " which Randy used to have playing before his fights....i lost interest after that ....anyway just thought id share it with you chaps. If i remember right Mill's shot himself with a rifle...which was said to be too long for him to get in his mouth and pull the trigger!...Turpins story is a real sad one...he certainly was cheated out of money...but he sadly killed one of his kids before killing himself the kid had blonde hair and randolf didnt belive it was his...it was said at the time he was suffering from depression

gnasher16 30,121
If i remember right Mill's shot himself with a rifle...which was said to be too long for him to get in his mouth and pull the trigger!... He was actually shot through the eye.....the rifle was found stood in an upright position next to his body and his hands were on his knees when he was found......they proved that it wasnt impossible for him to have shot himself by leaning the rifle on the top of the front seat, where it COULD have fallen into the position it ended up in after the trigger was pulled.....however...the thing that gave the big doubts was that Freddies eye was open when the bullet entered, something experts said was extremely unlikely in the event of it being suicide..... So when you look at the bigger picture its highly doubtful he shot himself.

Doesnt surprise me he did have a bit of a feminine way about him the way he spoke ...didnt he get in trouble over drugs as well did some time etc. Wasted talent !....And it was our Lloyd Honeyghan that put him on the slippery slope
