I see alot of dogs been sold and swapped they never get a chance to settle these people that think a dog should be killing below 12months is madness. tote 856 Posted February 19, 2007 Report Share Posted February 19, 2007 Must admit some lads take a bit of working out.First up they buy a pup,rear and train it for 9-10 months and before it's old enough to prove itself the dogs up for sale. But then all things are great,the dog catches a few rabbits and it's not for sale. I wonder what will happen if the dog has a bad night and misses some easy catches? Will it be up for sale again? snoopdog 1,256 Posted February 20, 2007 Report Share Posted February 20, 2007 i not going to side with anyone about this.. but giving advice fine... having the crack fine...but thers alot of people just waiting to pounce before they no the facts ..ive done a little bit over the years with lurchers ...ive had them out at ten months old ..even younger if i thought the dog was ready for a few runs..just because you have took your pup out and caught a few bunnies dosent mean you have lamped your dog into the ground and fecked it ... they can run just as hard when playing ...if you give your dog a few slips a couple of times aweek its not going to do it any harm at all ...theres to many people saying i wait this long i wait that long ...if you no your dogs you will no when its ready for a run so if you dont no the dog personaly why give sombody shit ..a bit of sound advice yes ...get a grip lads... When i hear about these people who get rid of young dogs because they are not very good at catching rabbits it makes me so mad !!! Wild dogs and dogs in hunting packs may take ages/many seasons to suss how to be good at hunting, they also learn hunting techniques from older pack members. All i can say is give these young dogs time and let them mature mentally and physically before you get rid of them. Quote Link to post
