Saying that, I have a hankering for a Poodle

Reportedly the most cleverest dogs after the collie. Soft mouthed and good noses too, a very versatile dog.

Would be very interested to see how a first cross would turn out.

there used to be an old fella in somerset with a poodle x grey and it was a very handy dog he used to do a lot of deer with it and a fox had no chance , as mentioned it was a clever dog and ran clever the old fella always had it with him and i dont think that dog ever had a lead on it I d have had it in my kennel given the chance it was a handy dog i dont know what happened to it as it must be 11 years old now and old is Burt is dead now so the trail end there

LOL a poohound my mum had a black standard poodle and it had some prey drive it was a git for chasing things wether or not you wanted it to.She hates hunting so she still to this day doesnt know what her fluffy hunni bunny used to get up to

they was a lad round blackpool that breed them in the 70s, he had an advert in the exchange and mart. he also breed the 1st cross back to greys he said to my old man they were good on hares and fox, but my dad just could not bring his self to get one..jack

I have a miniature poodle 14" tts that is a demon little ratter & turning into a good busher, she has high prey drive and intelligence and i'm turning her from a lap warmer into a hunting partner quite quickly for a 3 year old pet dog She would love to catch bunnies but isn't fast enough though she gets mighty close using her brains and turning ability.

Next season i am hoping to work her alongside my pup and make up a good team

I know someone who got a collie x bitch off Typ Ratcher and he said Typ was working his poodle cross and happy with it. I guess the right poodle could add intelligence, a good coat, willingness to go in water (mine are pathetic about water so I'd like that!). A bloke round here has a standard poodle that catches rabbits, so who knows?!

The only problem i have found with the wooly poodle coat is it snags up in heavy bramble, the dog is more than willing to enter any cover but gets caught up so bad she gets stuck sometimes and i have to get in and free her

doesn';t the poodle help for people who are allergic to dogs, im sure that was the orginal reason for the labrdoodle to create guide dogs for the blind who were alergic to dogs, so i guess the guys who relly want to hunt with lurchers but them, there partener or thier childeren are allergic they might be willing to give one a chance
