in asda its £1.44, for a litre of veg oil,,, a bit cheaper if you buy a 5 litre bottle

And a litre of diesel is what....£1.42 - £1.48 at the moment....am i missing something

if you make biodiesel out of wvo(waste veg oil)you can run yer van on 100% bio, i do in my fourtrak and did all winter even at minus12, i can make it for as little as .15p a litre, i aslo run my peugeot expert on it aswell, although its not recommended due to the fact its fuel pump is a lucas as apposed to a bosch, the pug has a 80 litre tank so instead of filling up at the pump at£143.9p, and costing £115.12 a tank full, i spend 80litres x .15p/litre = £12 so as you can see i save £103.12 every tankfull, cheers

where do you get your wvo from hairyface??

and have you bought one of those machines that converts the oil?? cheers TOMO

i get my wvo from local pubs that serve barmeals,i generally avoid chipshops as they use the blocks of solid fats, agri energy has a good hold in cumbria as regards to collecting wvo, they buy it so ive had a lot of doors closed in me face. and yeah i got a reactor from what was ecotech/etruk

theres a big difference between wvo and biodiesel mate, i would put wvo direct into the vehicle tank,. i dont get quite as many mpg on bio and theres a slight dip in performance, but its better for the engine and my carbonfootprint is zero, cheers

I used to run my old van on it until a drunk old guy drove into it while it was parked up and wrote it off. Used to use 100% vegetable oil in the summer months and never had a problem in 3 years of running it pure. If you get it used or from the cash and carry then its cheaper than diesel or at least was until it got more popular. I still have 40 litres of unused straight from the cash and carry veg oil if anyone in cornwall is interested. A snip at £40

It's about a quid a litre where I live. I run my 51 plate Astra 1.7dti on about 20-30% and it runs better with the veg oil in than without.

One tip I heard was when it gets cold, mix the oil with 3% white spirit as it then brings the viscosity to the same as regular derv. I've not researched this though, it's only what I've been told.
