terrierman.northeast 1
Hello mate I've kept plumbers for a few year now using my 2 for digging only but I can honestly tell you there a great all round dog, not many people will tell you that by the way, plummers haven't exactly got a fabulous reputation for being the best earth workers, alot of bad comments on here about them being shite but i work mine to the bone on all quarry below ground and they've never failed me all the best Ryan Quote Link to post

CorkyJohn 808
I remember thinking the same about Borders years ago as I'd read up on them & wanted one for ratting, rabbiting & some digging hopefully as I'd not long had permission to do as I liked on a 4500 acre estate. Bought one from a bloke in Sunderland who seemed honest enough, told me what I wanted to hear in regards to work. £250 without papers 'working bred'. The bloke still keeps/breeds shite so I'm told Easy pup to train, intelligent & started working easily. Excellent hunting up bushing, would hunt up rabbits quietly but when he started yapping you were trying to get the lurchers close to hand as there was definitely a fox in there. As a digging dog an utter cowardly failure...... 20 mins Max, out & out bayer. Wouldn't look at anything else & you could put him in anything no matter how deep, if a fox was in there he'd find it. He was worth his weight in gold as a bolter but no digging dog. I'd have him back today as it'd be easier going places you shouldn't be with a dog like him. Unfortunately he was stolen from my kennels along with a proper lakey bitch & lurcher never to be seen again. My point being a well bred pup from real digging parents/lines can easily become a good digger/ratter/rabbiter but a pup bred from inferior stuff might turn into a good rabbiter/ratter but may lack the qualities, buy the right tool for the job JMHO Quote Link to post
