Pups dew claws

Recommended Posts

I have a litter of pups due in 3 weeks time and i want to get they're dew claws removed, my local vet said that it will cost £50 per pup to do this which i thought sounded rediculous!! Does anyone know a decent vet or experienced person who will do this at a reasonable price in or near the wiltshire area? Any help would be much aprieciated. I will travel outside the wiltshire area within reason

my local vet said £15 for the first pup and £10 each for the others £50 sounds alot to me i have seen it done with a stanley knife blade

what did you do with the dewclaws on all the other litters you and your mum breed?

I haven't bred a litter myself for years, the pups my mum has bred was upto her what she did with them, nowt to do with me. My bitch is nigh on 5 year old and never been bred, she has proved herself in the field ten fold, this will be her first and only litter which i had planned for a long time, by the time the pup i keep is up and raring to go the bitch will be nearing retirement. Anyway not that any of that matters on this thread, my litter of pups and i'll rear them how i see fit.

from the pic your dogs look a creit to you

Lined my dog we my mates bck end of lst year we dew clawed em we a gud pair of scissors at 3 day old no problem, only took bout half hour n all pups were fine

half hour! It would take me about 2 mins to do a whole litter if its legal!?, cut well back to avoid re growth dont use no powder or cream as the bitch licks it off.

take bitch away then when done fetch her back shell lick the blood and job done.

i would change your vet as soon as you can that price is scandalous, phone around you should get it done for around a tenner per pup and thank the vet by using them for the vaccinations and any future care of your bitch. imagine if she gets into trouble out of hours with the whelping. a good vet that also does farm animals and working dogs will be cheaper in general.
