lets see you guard dogs......

Recommended Posts

What i will say is 99% of the folk who say "heres my guard" mean the dog gives the odd woof at strangers, dogs that would actually do the job are like rocking horse shit and i think many folk are deluding themselves............

i used to work at a kennel that trained pp/search and rescue/sports dogs for private sale but also boarded pets,we tested literally hundreds of the untrained pets to see what they were like if their handler/carer got attacked, the best on average by far were terriers and male rottweilers, they were the most natural protectors i found (to the albeit little pressure we applied).

Just to make you aware.....a " pit " is a natural or artificial hole/cavity in the ground.....not a breed of dog Sounds like a recipe for bad news to me why people use breeds of dog that have no bac

Achilles is a blue brindle Neo, he's about 29'' to the shoulder and 150 lbs (149.8 on the scale). He's got great drives, is very civil by nature, and has surprisingly strong prey drive for a Neo. He's also one of the most active, athletic and clean, neos his size I've seen in a very long time.

I know mine mean business! A mad neighbour once 'broke into' our garden to prove that the dogs 'wouldn't hurt anyone'. He ended up lucky just to leave without his jacket. Stupid t*at!

My wife did warn him!

Some folk dont listen, BUT matey to me dogs that "mean business" would do more than take a jacket......

This is one of my mates dogs.

Thats a f****** mean looking dog

I have to agree a very nice "proper" looking rottie, not a pet barrel shaped dogs that you tend to see.

I do like having a rottie or two about. It was very reassuring to take my last rottie girl out with me when i walked the dogs where I used to live. She was very good at keeping the drunks and kids at bay on our late evening walks.

Our terrier has too much staffy in her to guard properly, she just barks. Our lurcher puts on a very good display for a lurcher and will bark and looks quite scary. The real guards though are the female rottie x, who is soppy with those she knows but will swap in a second to guard mode. Was standing with her outside the chippy waiting for my food and some kids came running past shouting, within seconds she went from cute dog people were petting when they came/went to standing all puffed up and barking at the kids with me hauling her back. Our other current rottie x, is x working collie - who for his size is very driven and one of the most determined dogs I have ever met! I would hate to be the person getting on the wrong side of my little boy.

Maybe so but the fact of the matter is that an intimidating looking dog that barks at strangers or when a sound is heard is all that's needed 99% of the time, unless you've got the crown jewels in your house most burgulars will just go and find an easier target.

I agree, just makes me chuckle all the fang shots of "killer" and such

lolz heres 1 to make you smile then....

who needs a guard dog just add to the list of quarrie of your cur.... lolz an alrounder

Not to pick, but I have to say that I would not be happy with a dog that size who 'within seconds' went from cute to barking at a bunch of kids. Just my opinion, but a well trained dog of that size and strength really shouldn't feel the need to bark at children or need to be hauled back from them.
