I walked my dogs through some long fields yesterday and come home from work to find my bull x is covered in a rash with lots of whiteheads all on his underside just had a look at my terrier and he is fine. He doesnt seem to be in any discomfort any ideas what it could be an allergic reaction to something maybe? If so what can input on it to ease it up. If any can tell me how to put pics up from my mobile il show you.

Theres a lot of plants that are harmfull to dogs just keep a eye on it, has you say could just be a allergic reaction or try giving him a allergy tablet for hay fever.

Ihad this problem last week,i found out the farmer had been putting weedkiller down on his hay meadows,i washed the dogs down and rubbed watered down Ascabiol into their skin, this seemed to cure the problem,it was strange as only 1 terrier and one lurcher showed symptons,4 dogs did'nt.

Mine gets this when she's been through nettle patches - the ones which grow near us are particularly nasty for some reason! I use an aloe vera gel which I originally bought to treat rain scald on my horse but it's also great for lurchering injuries, don't know what it's called but cheap and can get it at most feed stores. I know a lot of people who treat their dogs with manuka honey, but this stuff works as well and doesn't cost a stupid amount per jar!

By the way, you can give any non-drowsy human antihistamine to dogs and it won't do any harm.

Why would you want to use an anti scabies product on nettle/plant rash? Better using aloe vera or calamine lotion to soothe and keep the dog away from nettles etc during the summer.

Probably because i did'nt know the cause, the dog was itching and watered down ascabiol soothes and stops itching, plus it worked and if the same happens again ill repeat the procedure.I have a tendency to use ascabiol, watered down,if i suspect scabies, better to be safe than wait and see.
