graham4877 1,181 Posted October 18, 2011 Report Share Posted October 18, 2011 we cant start sending them off to prison everytime they get it wrong In the past couple of years cops have been prosecuted for murder,rape,multiple-rape,child-grooming,pedophilia,theft,drug-dealing,fraud,assault,theft,the whole gamut of crimes,they make the krays look like card-carrying members of the good-citizen club,I understand what your saying gnasher,but week-in,week-out cops are prosecuted in this country for crimes,thats fact and just the way it is,the days of old when a uniform demanded respect are long gone,just watch any of the cop shows on TV to see the guys who really serve us nowadays,they are human,no better than you nor I,equally as fallible. Harwood resigned from the force over a previous anger-related issue then joined as a civvy worker 3 days later,he isnt an angel,justice should be served. well said mate, as for the bit about the shit they have to deal with , yes they have lots of it, but they know what they are getting in to before they join, and can leave anytime they want, our troops have more shit to deal with day in day out! You know what im saying though mate......im talking about a human mistake or error of judgement within a mans job ( a very difficult job )........not a pre meditated criminal act..............how do you get punished for a mistake you make while at work,prison ? ( not you personally you understand )..............I say again,society grants police the authority to make judgement calls on situations we are not trained to do.....if its a genuine mistake i dont feel you can cart them off to prison.......that situation was a highly charged volatile atmosphere and the plod was too heavy handed granted.......but he was unlucky the fella died,no different to working a door and being unlucky in a similar situation.....it happens sadly. Likewise when a man turns up at a riot he knows what he is getting into and has to accept police are going to be a touch more rough than normal and rightly so..........if you dont accept that dont go to a riot or be anywhere in the vicinity of one. Theres clips all over You tube of people getting beaten to f**k with batons and they dont die........you could fall of the kerb tommorow and die with internal bleeding.
