Wether your dog would attack a horse ISN'T th point :wallbash:

It's knowing how th horse's might react to your dog's.And i'm sorry but a dog chasing rabbit's around a field isn't the best thing for a flight animal  .

Ok, maybe the bloke could of handled the situation better but try thinking what might of been if the shoe would've been on the other foot, so to speak.

While I understand that this was a bit of an over-reaction from the horse owner, you have been a little stupid.

Having tried to keep horses in an area where dog walkers think they can do as they please, I do have some sympathy with them.

Firstly, you don't know what else has happened in that area. They may have had problems with other dog walkers that you don't know about. Horses can be very highly strung, and while your dog may not bother them too much, it doesn't take much for a horse (which is very vuluable) to 'spook' and injure themselves (we had one that pulled a tendon and cost around 2k to put right).

Secondly, hand feeding someone elses horse is not a good idea. Horses quickly 'imprint', and if they get used to being hand fed they tend to expect it all the time, from everyone that comes near them - the result is a biting horse.

Feeding them bread is totally out of order as it can cause colic.

The 'occupier' has the right to shoot a dog that they find worrying livestock as a last resort. If they pointed that out to you then they are quite within their rights. If it was me, I would have asked you not to let your dog run in the horse field, and if you had been arsey, followed that up with a reminder of my rights as a livestock keeper.

You reacted to a not very diplomatic comment by threatening to kill someone; I'm sure the police will want to discuss that.

There are two sides to every story, and I suspect that the horse owner has had problems and could be at their wits end.

Points taken.

Spot on

I think it was the OP that over-reacted, NOT the horse owner....

One person threatens to shoot another persons pet because it was potentially causing harm to their pet, and gets threatened with his LIFE.

Lets put this into perspective; no animal is worth the life of a person, and threats of this nature should be taken seriously by the law. If you don't already have a SGC or FAC, you will never get one now - and quite rightly so.

It's all very well saying what you think the effect of your dog on the horse was or is, but you obviously know feck all about horses.

See, this would have been MUCH simpler, if you had just clubbed the guy to death, hidden his body in the woods, and ridden his horse off into the sunset. Next time, do the right thing

Make sure a friend was there also and that he started shouting and threatening you and they can go f*****g arrest him.I can sympathise ive been a little angry and uttered things i shouldnt when it comes to my own dogs like yesterday when i kicked a lab x right up the Arse for attacking my muzzled on lead dog.Women went bananas and was shall we say put right in her place she even paid my vets bill  As it was pointed out your dogs agressive and off lead and attached itself to a very peed off Storm not the easiest lad to keep at peace when hes riled my bitch was told to back off and the womens shouting hes ok hes friendly eh well his teeth are embedded in my dog you dozy cow no no he wont do that till she seen my dog and she was well told how lucky she is to still have a dog cos if the muzzle hadnt been on there would have been a dead dog.Hence why hes muzzled He wont start it but he will finish it.I walk away after huge debate and handing vets details over and she lets it go again and it goes to have a pop at my lass who puts it straight in its place and in no doubt if it bites her she would bite back.Women did ask the vet to pass on her apologies and shes lucky cos i get a discount at my vets i was furious for hours after i got home from vets
