Guest busterdog
Advocate mate, been using it for over a year now because as said it treats all parasites, cleared my mates bitch who had mange in no time. and easy to use, its just like using spot on, just sqeeze it at the back of the neck. Any decent vet should of recomended this product for you mate. thats what i used and i also put wound powder on the mange area, its lucky here in england we not likely to get sarcoptic mange, thats the bad one Sarcoptic mange is THE normal mange, the one you don't want is Demodectic mange. J Darcy 5,871
Ivomec is not licenced in the Uk for dogs, but if it is used no more than 0.2 of a mil should be used. I cringe when i hear of some of the huge doses given to dogs. A big lurcher won't need more than 1 mil, and its lethal stuff. If you don't fully understand the dosage required your best off not jabbing with the stuff. Try another method instead. I often think that Stronghold is the best, most safest method for your dog. Just buy a couple of pippettes and you're laughing, and without putting the dog at risk too.

Demodectic mange is passed from the bitch to her pups and after flairing at first ussually lies dormant until the infected dog is under stress, whelping for eg. When i worked terriers regularly i had a 45 gallon drum with a lid,and used sheep dip watered down twice the recommended dose for sheep,i would dip the dogs a couple of times each season and never had mange take hold, and no side effects,i did once get a mouthfull when dipping a terrier and had the shits for a couple of days.Benzyl does the job,but you should only do half of the dog in one go,front end one day back end the next. Youre right there bd, ive had murder with dermadectic in a young dog here this last few months, i posted about it on moochers, i couldnt get the dog right for love nor money literraly, as a last resort i jabbed him with the ivomectine and to be fair hes a different dog, there were 3 in his litter, my mate kept a dog and a bitch back and the bitch still suffers with it when she breaks down but the dog has never shown any signes of it!!! alan626 305
do not give ivermec to collie based lurchers
lurcher330 2,297
ivermec can be lethal to any dog i once seen a whippet greyhound swell up so much he looked like a mastiff had to be rushed to the vets and given an antihistimean but the reasons people say collie are worst effected is because farmer use ivermec for their livetock and farmers mainly keep collies but my pallimeano sport horse almost died aswell from it his whole body swelled up and he needed the same antihistimean.it does work but you are taken a chance when using it but i find if you give the dog a good wash in hybescrub and then use advocat it should clear it up and i find for the kennels a good fly killer spray will kill any parisites living inside
