zx10mike 137
just need to make sure i have got this right.with regards windage adjustment hypertheticly speaking if i had a wind of four mph at 300 yds my bullet traveling at 3622 fps 40 grain shifts 3.7" my scope using quarter moa adjustments at 100yds, would i make 5 clicks to compensate for 1.25 moa(figure given on my ballistic calculater) or is the moa changed to .75moa on my scope because i am shooting at 300 yds and therefore i would need to adjust only 2 clicks to achive 1.5 moa? thanks for your help guys in advance Quote Link to post
halamrose 24
1.5 MoA is 1.5 MoA whatever the range so the same number of clicks. As you increase the distance the size in inches of a minute increases so its more or less 1 inch at 100 yds scales up to 3 inches at 300 yds. 5 clicks would be 3/4" per click times 5 = 15/4 = 12 and 3/4 or in decimal that would be 12.75 so your right. dave1372 83
.....although your question has already been answered if it is any help PM me your addresss and details and I will stick a copy of a disc that has reloading software on it which you can use to produce click charts for the ammo you are using and it also has a training program which helps you hone you MOA skills, and is good fun and practice for you to use on your PC on those shitty raining evenings when you can't get out to go shooting. Spangle 0
As said, 1.5moa is 1.5moa whatever the range. At 100yds 1moa is 1.047" so at 300yds 1moa is 3.141" (or 3" for arguments sake) So, 1.25moa at 300ys is 3.92" (1.047 x 3 x 1.25) Or, the other way to look at it is that 1moa is 1/60th of 1 degree Make sense? markha 99
I know this is very slightly off topic, but always worth mentioning, especially to folks who may just be browsing this thread for their own enlightenment - If your into 'dialing in' elevation and using hold-on/off for windage that you make sure your scope has the reticle and the turrets using the same measurement system as there are a heck of a lot of 'sniper/target scopes' about that have MILS reticle with MOA turrets!
