ArchieHood 3,692
Hiya Peter. Got to say Buster is right in what he says mate. Keeping down around the 11 mark is better than reving the nuts out of the rifle. They work more efficiently, and are more consistant, something I have learnt. Id say relax, and enjoy what you do, no sense putting yourself under pressure to bag up. Having only just got the permission, and seeing the potential, you might be a tad excited.......I know I would be Enjoy your day, anything in the bag is a bonus mate. From your other posts in the past, its obvious you both know what your doing, youve just had a bad experience with the new rifle, and on the permission. Rewind and have another go mate, be better next time ATB. Bill. Your right bill matey, i never disagreed with buster about the power thing, its just how blunt he is!! lol You know its true buster When your sorted with the chrono bill, just p.m and ill give you a ring mate, very kind of you, when you expecting your rifle back?? Atb peter Buster blunt? I can think of similar words ........... Quote Link to post
moxy 617
Generous offer but your too far for me and i have enough on. For a start i would be leaving the rifles at home and go on a couple of reccys. Different times and from a different approach each time. You will start to get a feel as to the rabbits routes, scrapes prefered feeding spots and more importantly the directions they hot tail it back to safety when disturbed. Going without a rifle stops the temptation to shoot anything and allows you to concentrate on the above. As already said field-craft and cunning is a must. If two of you shoot the permission, split up and head the rabbits off. They may be doing one away from you but running directly to your shooting buddy. Using walls, ditches, hedge rows etc should offer you an advantage. Try pace out the odd field so you get an idea to the ranges you can be shooting to from cover?? Unless im going for a mooch for the odd rabbit for the ferrets, i wouldnt be expecting to get large bags through the summer evenings without hitting the permission with a lamp. I would never use a white light either. Alternate between couloured filters and dont frequent the same permission too often. The more you do the shyer the bunnys get. Weather conditions are a major factor, nice and windy is a winner, bit of rain thrown in, anything to cover the sound of you approaching. Dont be too eager with your lamp, a quick flick to get your direction, lamp off and get yourself in range. Fifty yards, quick flick of the lamp, is it still there? can you make up another 10 yds? forty yards, can you make up another 5? does it look to be getting twitchy? etc etc Foremost though, you have to be able to hit what your shooting at 1 Quote Link to post

Sweeney-Todd 208
Hiya Peter. Expecting it tomorrow mate The old back has not been good for a while, but I hope to at least get to the range. If I cant, Ill send the chrono anyway unless you sort something with Jenks. Either way not a problem mate, just let me know. ATB. Bill. P.S. Phantom 631
Personally, As well as Fieldcraft when moving around, I would hide up over a warren or two or three. Laying in ambush can produce very good results Get downwind, laid up and make sure you know the ranges to the warrens and your capable of hitting targets at those ranges. Bunny hops out, WAIT bunny decides its clear and takes a few hops away from the entrance and BANG! Stay put and wait for the next one to do similar I can cover 6 warrens on my permissions at any one time out to 50 yards. So you (depending on the locations and proximity to each other) can cover double? If I lived closer, I'd take you up and give you some practical advice and help you both out. Tony Quote Link to post

smoggyadam89 2
I dont post alot but as this concerns me I think i best For me personally field craft is something that I could definitely improve on, its not my strong point!!! Seriously though after witnessing what I did the other other day I was completely demented Honestly I think the closest I personally got was around 65 metres, facing into the wind, bunny completely unaware of my prerssence, go prone line up shot, bunny looks up...surely not...hops into hedgerow If this happened the once fair does but more than once and you start to question your ability and before you know it your mind set is f****d.
