In my eyes yes borders can be slow to enter but if a dog is going to work it will if terriermen are willing to work longer and put there time behind a dog surely thats the nature of the sport and love of the game making your line into what U need of it, who says you cant introduce show lines to brooden its genetics like I said if it will work it will cull the rest, surely there are enough people on here with worrking borders to create a form of working border rather than say its f****d altogether move with the times!!

I don't think the problem lies with these intelligent creatures, I have a border bitch kc reg out of ornberg lines bought her for ratting bushing etc... I could not be more pleased with her. Yes I think it would be ideal to put worker to worker but don't under estimate kc reg dogs. The problem lies with the lack of effort, time and patients of owners. John.

well i am a few month short of fiifty years old allways worked terriers as did my father, following hunts or just out digging you didnt see many borders, years ago i tried one and it was a good finder but it struggled to finnish a fox which was hard to understand as he was a strong dog, others i have seen have had faults some were allright but i never seen a good un and lads who have been among terrier all there lives and are now in there late seventys will tell you they have never seen a good border, if most people were more honest about there terriers you would no that the border was finished years ago.some might be allright but a good terrier is hard to come by in any breed.

kc reg is the biggest rip off about, who checks what lines are what? who checks the breeder didnt lie on the application? this kc reg pish reely gets on my goat if the dog is going to work its in the feild you will find out if any good or not, not reading its unreliable anncestory. theres an excellent article in edrd about it more refering to teckels thow but the principle is the same.

i have seen some very good border cross fell terrier and years ago a bedlington border which was good,i was talking of pure borders, are yours good finders and capable of dispatching a fox,or do they bay a bit.im not slaging borders as i would like to think there was some out there, the oxcrot strain is the most popular in my area and i think they look to small and light to do good they would be pushed about i think.

Johnny777 I'm not an expert on borders, I've owned & worked one who was good bolting dog but not a digging dog & not worthy of breeding from. My point being my opinion is just that, an opinion based on limited experience thats why I wouldnt argue with experience unless I knew for a fact it was bullshit. You however, continue to spout nothing but bullshit....based on bullshit

fordson.....I've worked a couple of Oxcroft over the last few years and i've got a young 'un at the mo. They may be small as you say but but they didn't get pushed about. A tad on the hard side i'd say. And as bobby blackheart says...they'll do what ya want 'em to do, and more.
