what is your favorite pike bait ?

i have went pike fishing once or twice the only things i seem to catch with is fish from the sea like mackeral they love it havnt tried spinners yet what do yous all use ?

Tried it all, now use deadbaits that are natural fish to the water im fishing but when in competitions i use roach/rudd hybreds from a lake on a private estate i have access to and yet to loose a competition using them

the place we fish we have no luck with using fish in the lake for bait the pike took my worm and snapped my line as i wasnt fishing for pike instead of my mates roach he caught but he didnt relised he had caught the roach and when he brought it in it did have a chunk out of it lol might go up in a hour or so and give it a go

right bait, right time is the key pal.

pike will take almost anything but you wont catch a fish if the fish isnt in the swim or isnt feeding.

 

as i say to my kids, its called fishing and not catching for a reason mate.

i love going if i catch or not it is better if you catch but i still enjoy it

even if i go tiddler bashing, you can be sure i will have a pike rod laid out somewhere

fishing is great i just bring a chair eat and keep an eye on the rods goes good for me and watch the rabbits and deer run around me but its illegal to hunt there sooo

First decent sized pike I ever caught was on a live frog,normally however any live-bait from the water I am fishing.

Small Roach take some beating but if its a dead bait water only then Lamprey same some knocking...

alot of people think bigger baits make bigger fish. ive opened up some big fish which have ahd to be killed on request of the riverkeepers, the majority of the gut content are small fry and up to an inch or two.

the biggest fish i had was on a small mepps spinner,didnt have any scales but was bigger than my previous PB of 16lb,at a guess, mid 20's...

one bait i have not tried is a crayfish but plan to do so.

Local lake near me has plenty of ducks on it so as soon as the broods hatch get the surface lures out and bounce them along the top, works well and it's fantastic to see a take on the surface

a lot of different favorites there i was just up today and got nothing was up for three hours not a thing or a bite just having an off day had a good time anyway

a live bait allways works but i like to use small sprats lampray and pirch dead baits iv ad a good look but never found any small pike in the dead bait freezer is any one no where thay sell deadbaie pike let me no

I dont think you are ready to fish for pike yet......if you do happen upon one I dread to think how it will get treated in the un-hooking and return process.
