Read my post it clearly states I never owned one, but saw plenty in my days, in the 60s and 70s whippet racing was very common, and Blue one, your the type a person who sits behind a key board, and

bad feet no stamina and can only catch a hare on the lamp or in its seat i love myths lol   here are a few of mine   Tod non kc whippet 4 years old 21 1/2" about 38lb

Pretty sure they are capable of taking a hare or two   Poor feet and thin skins yet has never kept one-----another quote from a popular urban myth

I asked a guy who ran his whippet with the East of England how many were caught (hares) in a season? He reckoned around about ten but of course that's under rules with proper law. Everyone was in it for the sport and to test and compare dogs.

Precisely ! says it all really and that's with two dogs .

Yeah with proper law not carrying the dog upto the hare and dropping it on top of it they'll catch hares and some would be better than others but it's obvious they are not hare dogs per say it doesn't really have to be pointed out.

f**k me ! don't get your knickers in a twist girlie !

Sorry mate didn't realise you were so sensitive

my whippet took one yesterday afternoon out on a turf farm was great to watch. pretty sure my staghounds are quicker but they take a week to make a turn them make the ground up again. the whippet turns om a sixpence and stays on therms with his hare. hes 21 inches tts and quite strong made for a pur whippet. hes not a regestered dog but im sure he would go back to kennel club stuff. ill put a pick up when I get a chance.

full of young probably my jack russell would prob catch it summer killings where is the sport

I think you'll find he's in Australia, where its is now Winter, and where hares are considered introduced vermin and hunted as pest control.

True enough though, if it was done here

Great pics!

Full of young or not, the chap and his dogs are doing a grand job of clearing the fields for the farmers.

It does what it says on the truck! Vermin control!

Those whips look as though they can do the job on anything thats put in front of them.

You got a good team there1

A Late friend of mine, had a whippet, could go out early morning, for a run on a live rabbit,or Hare, about an hours work out,

Have his breakfast, and then in the afternoon 1 pm go to the local whippet, racing club, and his dog ((( Ricky)))) could and would Win a race there

but he still had shite feet, and paper thin coat, great for running on a golf course, football, pitches, and so on, another good but Late friend,

had 3 one was like a grew,27lb the other 2 were about 19lb mark, again he had permission to keep the rabbit population down on the local golf club

all 3 could run, and catch in favoured conditions, but again soft injury prone, they would not do any good in a turnip field or a Kale field, apt to break a leg or put there toes up, I even seen one, we were hunting in amongst, some strong white grass, nearly break its neck hit a clump and

and went over head and tails, and when it got up she was not very keen to carry on, the mining, villages it was a common site to see, a man walk out with 2and 3 on a leash, again I never owned one, but plenty of people who I knew did, and I watched plenty, run NOT MY CUP OF TEA,
