where do u keep ur rifles

Recommended Posts

As with Darryl. I have licensed FAC level air rifles as well as sub-12 ft/lbs rifles. So, I keep all of mine locked in a police-approved steel cabinet, bolted to a supporting wall in a secured, lockable room in my house.

Sorry no pics. I don't have the I.T know-how, and I don't want my firearms security arrangements shown on a public forum anyway.

as off febuary(i think ?) this year the laws changed on the storage of air guns.

"reasonable precautions must be to taken to ensure they are safe and do not fall into the wrong hands"

i.e.....cabinet....trigger lock......or simply locked in a cupboard

good luck with your project..........be nice to see some pics

This new airgun security law is interesting as it states that you must ensure that its difficult for your air gun to be accessed by those under the age of 18.

Im not sure if this means it applies to everyone or just those houses where people under the age of 18 live???

As I understand it Mark, it seems the measure is to keep our under-18 year old children and their mates from gaining easy, usupervised access to dads air rifles. There was a fatal accidental shooting here in West Yorkshire last year with a young lad who got hold of his dad's air rifle (AA S410 .22 I think it was) and shot his younger brother dead with it. This is what is to be prevented. The police are not insisting on FAC Firearm levels of security. Just a secure place where kids can't get access to them. Gunsafes are a good idea though, as there is always a chance of a burglar about. You never know.
