Right but you look at say a bull and a grey and tell me they are more similar to say a red and a sika. But on the other hand look at the animals listed as hybrids and nature stops them from breeding agen so perhaps rio is correct.

it makes you think mate doesent it !!! ;)

Yh it certainly does

Do yourselves a favour & keep your money in your pocket. The CMW has been a pile of shit for years now due to the idiots they have writing articles for them. It shows the mentality of whoever pays the clowns who submit articles for publication. Plummer may be long dead but there was plenty trying to fill his boots. Repetitive bullshit...... one of the regular authors is on here so I'm informed & she's full of it :whistling:

If your referring to penny taylor I think her articles are informed crap and just another thing to fill a page. I can't even read the drivel she writes anymore

You may think its drivel mate but there is alot of newbies in the game who would find her articles interesting , not everyones an expert, I agree sometimes articles can be a bit repetitive but only so much can be written about the subject of lurchers, its the same as on here, the same shite over and over again, I personaly find her articles better than most in the CMW and when she posts on here its obvious to me she has good knowledge

Most importantly though sometimes peoples views should be kept to themselves, creating divisions between pro hunting folks is not sensible, we have enough enemys already, you may have heard they,re called ANTI S :gunsmilie:

Yh they would find them interesting but they would be mis informing them

IS THIS MUSH SERIOUS OR CHASING A BIT OF CONTROVERSY?LAST ARTICLE WAS DUBIOUS AT BEST,THIS ONE IS TOTAL BOLLOCKS!HAS THIS CLOT EVER EVEN OWNED A RUNNING DOG?AND WHAT DOES THIS SAY ABOUT THE EDITING OF

hybrid vigour interesting one this ,wellmy thoughts on this are one gets vigour by outcrossing to different lines of the same breed, there does not have to be a cross of dif types . scatter breeding keeps size strength and usually malladies away ,just my thoughts and beleifs .breeding stock of any type weather pure or cross breds of dif types vigour can be got by outcrossing to dif lines of the said breed .atb bunnys.

If inbreeding increases homozygosity, crossbreeding is its opposite and maximises heterozygosity. Crossbreeding is the mainstay of most farm animal and plant production - it takes advantage of a phenomenon which is widely talked about but poorly understood: HYBRID VIGOUR (or for the geneticists - HETEROSIS) is the term used to describe the burst of fertility, good health and growth that is seen in the progeny when two unrelated breeds are mated. The longer that these breeds have been separated, and the greater the differences between them, the stronger will be the resulting hybrid vigour.

note . two unrelated breeds!!! but they have to be the same genus you can cross a horse and donkey ,you cant x a horse and cow!!!

you been busy on google ..

and whats wrong with that! its there to be used as reference . .. do you know better. or just capable of one line coments, why bother if your making no contribution to the thread .

nowt wrong with it just saying you been busy on google -- -- another 1 liner :tongue2:

Agreed, I don,t always agree with Sky cats methods but overall I think a newbie would find her articles useful, particularly when it comes to training pups, we could pick holes all day long mate, getting back to the original thread though I still think the grey/whip article is utter shite

I think the whole magazines shite, like in the classifieds there was 6 ( I think) puuppies ranging from 10 weeks to 6 months and from retrievers to bullxs, all in the same advert! Why would they allow that

Usual chestnut mate, Money, I think maybe you,ve got me wrong mate, I,m not the CMW biggest fan either, I tend not to bother reading half the shite in it but it does have it good points, creating debate/discussion, sometimes it pays to know peoples different views even if you don,t agree,I,E. are whip/greys shite, I can,t wait for the readers replys on that one

Ok! Money mate that's why they'd allow it. Plain and simple. The bigger the advert that more they rake in.

this his similiar it was found that some of the ofspring were fertile and the rest his history a new type has evolved with genes mutating we have new colours being recognised each yr, nature at its best because we also see the variants in the dif species of finches enabling fanciers to produce colour variant mules hybrid etc, silvers cinamons pieds lutinos clears can be seen in most of the ueropean finches ,breeding birds enables the study of genes for colour etc on a much larger and faster turn around ,pigeons were the forerunner some yrs ago when fanciers started to spot slight dif in some and started to double up on these ,we began to get dif fancy pigeons powters etc. atb bunnys.

this has nothing to do with terry turkington

it's alot more interesting than talking about one blokes opinion that seems to be based on urban myths. That's the thing with books articles etc it's just one opinion Plummer said Salukis were shite and collie crosses were the business what happened everybody got collie crosses. Lloyd worked cattle dogs and wrote about them and they became popular don't see many advertised now it's all whippets and saluki saturated a few years ago bull crosses were the rage You only have to read through different forums to realise there's a hell of alot of sheep out there and just a few shepherds.

are any of the sheperds worth listening to though. :hmm:

Probably not

That may be the case but then, is the magazine just aimed at newbies as it has f**k all for anyone else? Sorry, it allows peddlers to sell their wares for over inflated prices. Anyone interested in working dogs would do well to subscribe to EDRD rather than waste their money on the CMW. I don't subscribe anymore as I went off that due to the number of american articles appearing every month. Its nice to 'occasionally' read of other sport/hunting but hunting abroad isn't something I'll ever do or have an interest in....

JMO, each to their own
