Recommended Posts

Interesting this the newcolour canary we have had for some yrs the red siskin gave us this bird type and good many types and variants have evolved from them fertile hybrid on the f1.atb bunnys.

Don't know much abut birds but always thought that canary crosses were called mules.

Just looked it up female ligers Tigons are fertile but males aren't so females can be bred back to pure tiger or lion is this the same with canaries ?

this his similiar it was found that some of the ofspring were fertile and the rest his history a new type has evolved with genes mutating we have new colours being recognised each yr, nature at its best because we also see the variants in the dif species of finches enabling fanciers to produce colour variant mules hybrid etc, silvers cinamons pieds lutinos clears can be seen in most of the ueropean finches ,breeding birds enables the study of genes for colour etc on a much larger and faster turn around ,pigeons were the forerunner some yrs ago when fanciers started to spot slight dif in some and started to double up on these ,we began to get dif fancy pigeons powters etc. atb bunnys.

hybrid vigour interesting one this ,wellmy thoughts on this are one gets vigour by outcrossing to different lines of the same breed, there does not have to be a cross of dif types . scatter breeding keeps size strength and usually malladies away ,just my thoughts and beleifs .breeding stock of any type weather pure or cross breds of dif types vigour can be got by outcrossing to dif lines of the said breed .atb bunnys.

If inbreeding increases homozygosity, crossbreeding is its opposite and maximises heterozygosity. Crossbreeding is the mainstay of most farm animal and plant production - it takes advantage of a phenomenon which is widely talked about but poorly understood: HYBRID VIGOUR (or for the geneticists - HETEROSIS) is the term used to describe the burst of fertility, good health and growth that is seen in the progeny when two unrelated breeds are mated. The longer that these breeds have been separated, and the greater the differences between them, the stronger will be the resulting hybrid vigour.

note . two unrelated breeds!!! but they have to be the same genus you can cross a horse and donkey ,you cant x a horse and cow!!!

you been busy on google ..

and whats wrong with that! its there to be used as reference . .. do you know better. or just capable of one line coments, why bother if your making no contribution to the thread .

Do yourselves a favour & keep your money in your pocket. The CMW has been a pile of shit for years now due to the idiots they have writing articles for them. It shows the mentality of whoever pays the clowns who submit articles for publication. Plummer may be long dead but there was plenty trying to fill his boots. Repetitive bullshit...... one of the regular authors is on here so I'm informed & she's full of it :whistling:

Seems to me that this Turkington fella has done his job as a writer for a magazine

He has put across "His Opinion" and started a debate on a related forum,

so in one sense has exceeded his remit...!!!!

 Mars..

I think its a worry when people can publish their opinions without evidence to substantiate them.

As a regular reader of the old SN, and have started buying the CW again, it really does need a revamp, what are the admin thinking of, it needs a new Editor and the whole Mag sorted out,

I would start my making it monthly, you need a good run of articles like Lloyd on Lurchers and some top terriers Lads I would do away with the silly readers photos, and try and get the Readers letters going.
