Alli 923
Looks to me like the dog was being put off by the hand on the scruff, why do people feel the need to get involved to much ? will you be there to hold it's hand toground. Good luck with the pup but if it were me i'de take a backwards step and watch from a distance and say nothing untill it was doing it for itself. NEVER A TRUER WORD SAID. Quote Link to post

specktacular007 2
there is no need to try and train him.when he is ready he will go. i never seen a terrier that didnt travel an earth when it was ready. finding and staying is the hard bit for them. just give him the opertunity when he is old enough and he will go.good luck Quote Link to post
rabbit slayer 22
Im not fond on showing young dogs stops ends, First thing they learn from that is pain could spoil a young dog i think. I prefere to let them find themselfs when their ready and then they can learn how to work their quarry. If i were going to show a young dog a stop end it would be from behind a fork so you can have a bit more control to whats going on and keep the young dog keen. Some may argue with this and say all good dogs will go but every dog is different and some come on quicker than others. This is just how i prefer to do things, each to thier own though. lurcherlad_2010 35
I,ve seen both net, stop end ways years back, the Old Fella I go out with Prefers to let them travel, found this to be alot better.I let mine hunt around above and think it helps their nose.Found earths that coudn,t be seen this way,Bankings,in dense gorse etc. Yer when were out with my mates terrier we just let her work on ahead and as you said they find holes what you never knew were there thumbs Quote Link to post
