went out this morning at 8am with .22lr just to zeroe it in for sun as ive got a farm over run with rabbits, anyway set the sites at about 80yds spot on so i then decided to go and have a crack at some tree rats,so i was there sat in a little wood when something caught my eye i couldnt beleive my eyes a vixen was walking right towards me so i sat there behind a tree it came into about 60yds so i thought right you little f.... pulled the trigger on my little rimfire hit it top half of body it ran about 20yds and dropped i was well chuffed, when i checked the fox over she was full of milk so i mooched about didnt take me long to find her earth which had cubs in there so went home to get my little terrier and i dealt with them too. 1 happy farmer as he lost a few lambs to this culprit so all in all everybodys happy ;)

you must live in the middle of nowhere shooting a 22 lr up at(tree rats) trees,is it me or is that not a bit(lot) dodgy.i'm not here to judge but that sounds like a recipe for disaster.

well shot on the fox tho!

i hear you buddy - i know of someone having their ticket removed after telling his F.O in conversation that he shot a sqizza that morning , when the F.O asked him where it was he said "half way up a tree " that was his ticket gone !!

.223 for foxes -im an avid hunter but doing a charley with a subsonic .22 ?? im not judging you but i wouldnt have taken the shot !

i would be carefull to say zeroing on private land too buddy -it states in the firearms act -only zero on home office approved ranges - just advice not critasism

a 22lr is rated for foxes in this guys defence especialy at that range.and i have zero in on my permisions with no problem.

i got rid of my 22 becouse i had some scary ricochets.and as i said there might not be a publick footpath or any persons within two miles.still would not put it on this furum tho.

That is incorrect I'm afraid. Not sure where you got that from, Bear in mind most people on this forum wont be members of Shooting clubs....

Where does the OP mention shooting squirrels up trees?

Got to laugh at some of the posts on here .22 at 60 yards is plenty good enough for a fox and as for only zeroing only on HOA ranges get a grip

It is good to see someone do the right thing and follow up on the cubs, well done on that OP,but,I would stick to head shots with the rimmy mate.Still a happy farmer is a bonus mate.
