LordGamebore 0
Hi guys, I'm in need of one of those cleaning rods for the HMR and need to know which makes are good and which are crap. The Bisely one comes at a decent price. I have all the solvents and oils stuff already, so I just need the rod. Cheers Quote Link to post

You also need small patches specifically for the .17 and a cleaning jag (pointy bit). And most importantly a bore guide!!!! specific to your make of gun. If you are looking at the Bisley 3 piece kit it is horrible and I would not let it anywhere near my gun. You get what you pay for - quality does not come cheap but it lasts and is a pleasure to use and will not mess up your gun. Edited May 20, 2011 by dadioles Quote Link to post

Cheers Get a 'Dewey' from Midway UK, the best I've found, don't faint at the price that's one of the down sides of shooting 17! Also the brass 'brushes' only last 3>4 uses as they crush over because the wire 'bristles' are so short, so buy 6 at a time I got mine from 'Rimfire Magic' and they were fine. Quote Link to post

Deker 3,478
The only Dewey I have is for my HMR, but it is without doubt the best of my rods, also the most expensive of course! Quote Link to post

dadioles 68
Can you not just use s bore snake? Some of us are rather anti- bore snake. Frankly I think they are a liability but I really don't have the energy to go into all the why's and wherefore's again...... Quote Link to post
