I was at the show today(30th and was quite shocked to see that a terrier bitch that was walking lame on hind left was given first and qualifying prize. Ironically, the same bitch had been handled by the judge during his conversation with the owner prior to commencement of judging. There were only 3 in the class so a 3rd would have been awarded by default but I feel sorry for those who came 2nd and 3rd as one of them obviously should have won. Another dog I know of who was awarded 1st at another recent T L Show didnt even get shortlisted. I think you have a valid point and if the public get wind that fair play is not being seen to be done then they will vote with their feet. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Whether or not I was showing is irrelevant. i've been hunting with that judge for nearly 20 years and know he would'nt be swayed by a conversation earlier in the day and would of picked what he thought was the best terrier on the day and just because it differs to your opinion it does'nt make you right either but if you have a problem with him i'm sure i can get the 2 of you together and you can voice your feelings to him. and talk about not answering a simple question i think your answer,answers my question.but i would still like to know why you need his name.? and why you felt the need to hide behind a newbie identity.? Now then when did it get to be sooooo serious, it's a day out ,it's a meet your mates day ,it's a this is my dog now let's see yours day.I did'nt see owt wrong with the judging AND I did'nt come away with a fistful of rosettes but I aint chucking my toys out of the pram.The day before my lurcher got 1st, nowt on mon and the same judge so the better dog won on the day,same with my terriers,red all round on the sun nowt on mon,it's the way the it is.Would like to know if you were showing or not.The Aberconwy lads put 3 shows together to my knowing and I got no gripe with the way they do them-if you can do it beter-go for it-tell you this ,it aint easy.We all at some time have issues with the judge but you say so on the day and face to face not hidden behind a keypad! Obviously with this Club being relatively new, and not having any members of the Older Generation to ask their advice, there are a lot of pitfalls. You only get what you pay for. I have never been to this Show and Never will on principle, they masquerade under the name of the Aberconwy Working Dog and Ferret Club, it is a joke. Rabbiting and ferreting is not real HUNTING. How many go out with Hounds during the Season, how many hunt animals that actually bite back, I do not think there are many. A judge did pull out a week before the show and Gary rang me to see if I could get a judge at short notice and Unfortunatley I couldn't .... So what do you do have no judge at all ???? From your post whippetwondet I think you have a personal grievance with the club.... But I can assure you some ( I have not hunted or dug with all of them ) work there terriers hard .... 3 days stopping and three days hunting ...and digging on a Sunday Do all the lads and lasses at the nwtlc hunt and dig ???? No they don't... Each to their own though... It's a show FFs a bit of craic... And I'm also very good friends with Mick Corwen ... Who happens to be in the nwtlc as I am... Next time you see him why not take your problems up with him about his judging... I'm sure he will be only too happy to have it out with you... End of rant. the name might be a clue ABERCONWY WORKING DOG AND FERRET CLUB , ARE THEY HUNTING FOLK , few are , but as seen as we are under the trades dicription act ARE your whippets wonders or is that just a name you go by , there club has members who are kids and starting them out with ferrets etc is the tradition may lead on to bigger things as we are hurling shit who do you hunt with you only get what you pay for ITS A FOOOOOOKING TERRIER SHOW MATE A FUND RAISING EVENT GET A LIFE , Edited June 3, 2011 by gonetoearth Quote Link to post Share on other sites
